If you want more leaders like AOC and Zohran you need to join DSA and vote SMC

Socialist Majority Caucus@socialistmajority.com

Voting for NYC-DSA Convention delegates is open! 🗳️ Check your inbox and vote for the SMC slate to grow our movement, defeat fascism, and deliver for the working class. Let's run AOC for president, elect another socialist slate in 2028, build the labor and youth movements, and demystify DSA.

Incredibly funny that wannabe autocratic Brooklyn Dem leader Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn identifies as the heir to Dessalines, who famously appointed himself emperor of Haiti, massacred all the French on the island, and was ultimately murdered by former supporters and torn to pieces by an angry mob.

The old Sinclair Lewis quote that fascism would come to America "wrapped in a Hugo Boss uniform and carrying a swastika" was so prescient

this is the kind of design costume designers make to tell you who are the bad guys in a space movie

Early and in person is the gold standard, election day is next best, mail in ballot only if you really have to. I wish we didn't have to make that calculation but they are really going to try to disrupt mail in ballots, and possibly in person voting

James Hell Brooks@kleinman.bsky.social

In fact if there's one political message that should reach everyone on Bluesky, the website for Democratic politics obsessives afraid to leave their own house, it's that you should vote in person this year.

Hell Gate reporter Katie Way is not exaggerating when she says that "this video has the potential to become a certified NYC politics cult classic along the lines of the Eric Adams teenage room search PSA." It's cuckoo bananas from start to finish:

The video clip is much more like a work of political satire (or of outsider art) than it is a convincing argument that Bichotte Hermelyn and her cohort are the rightful leaders of the party that represents Kings County's 1.2 million registered Democrats.

Huge story breaking right now in NYC: BK Dems party boss Rodneyse Bichotte-Hermelyn announced that she's subverting the will of Brooklyn's voters (a majority of whom recently voted to change party leadership) by dramatically changing the rules in order to hang onto her position as party boss.

Influencer successfully gets perfect shark shot

The influencers getting bitten chasing the perfect shark shot | I’m gonna need everyone to make better choices. Including the “influencers” who do unethical things with sharks without even a basic “don’t try this at home” disclaimer.

Republicans passed a tax on college endowments but McConnell added a loophole for a specific Kentucky schoo saying it doesn't apply to schools with below a certain number of tuition paying students. Now tons of schools are piling through that loophole by giving free tuition to a lot more students

My three year old was pretending to be a veterinarian ("animal doctor") and when I asked her if she specialized in some type of animals she said "toy animals" - can't argue with that

The A/B testing of running Jabari as a Green and losing and then as a Democrat and winning was a great moment in pragmatic socialist electoral strategy

Victim blame women who are raped hard enough and they'll be too ashamed to report their rapists - right wingers have really found a system that works (for rapists)

Lauren Southern's story of being raped by Andrew Tate is sad on so many levels. www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

I've worked in Democratic digital comms for a long time and pay attention to campaign metrics across platforms. Increasingly I'm seeing Dems who crosspost on X, Bluesky, and Threads get better engagement on Bluesky even with far fewer followers. Here's @jamestalarico.bsky.social's clip last night:

Ever since I met the senior partner at my new law firm and discovered he looks exactly like Nathan Fielder I've been a little suspicious that all of my new co-workers are actors doing a Rehearsal on me

I just asked my three year old what her favorite dinosaur was, expecting that she would indeed say triceratops (or "topatops" as she calls them) but instead she told me her favorite kind is "rosa" aka pink. Fair enough

David H. Montgomery@dhmontgomery.com

A shocking new poll result: Many Americans somehow don't have a favorite dinosaur. And only 6% give the correct answer (triceratops). Check out YouGov's new polling on Americans and dinosaurs: yougovamerica.substack.com/p/whats-your...

Try extending that graph to the left. There's a reason it was truncated there. This is a perfectly normal usage profile. Whenever a user joins a given site, there's a standard falloff curve where a fraction leaves. Since Bluesky's users have mainly come in spikes, that's just the normal curve.

As Socrates once said, accepting that apparently you are an idiot is the beginning of wisdom

“Apparently I’m an idiot.” Woman at Pennsylvania gas station who voted for Trump rips into him, calls him “a worthless pile of sh*t”.

They’re telling me a great empire will be destroyed if I attack Persia. Even the oracles who don’t like me very much, very nasty, they all said to me, “Sir, it’s one of the great empires, and it’ll be destroyed. And all because you attacked Persia.” That’s what they’re telling me.

Real microcosm of the counterproductive "warrior mentality" to decommission these badly needed but not directly violent mine sweepers in favor of more redundant firepower

Everyone, there is no need to panic about mines. The Navy has kept four mine countermeasure vessels in the Persian Gulf for the past 35 years. WAIT...what is that? The minesweepers just arrived in the US to be decommissioned, but we have 3 Littoral Combat Ships (LCSs) that took their place.

This is literally the Dr. Strangelove situation with Israel in the role of General Ripper going rogue with an attack and demanding that the US follow through or be hit by the retaliation anyway without the advantage of striking first
