WHEN MADNESS WEARS THE CROWN “Woe unto any kingdom when the crown is worn by a madman-a madman who, moreover, is the puppet of a crafty and unscrupulous favorite, whether a genuine magician or clever mountebank!” -L. Sprague De Camp and Lin Carter (from Conan the Liberator).

Anyone ever play CRIMEFIGHTERS? It was a solid little pulp hero adventure RPG (printed in an old Dragon Magazine early ‘80s?). Even had a starter adventure. We had a group play a whole campaign for over a year. Great fun! #ttrpg

I finished the battlemaps for the ORACLE CAVE. The biggest map I’ve done ever, it’s in 13 sections! It’s one of the #dragonbane adventures included in THE SECRET OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR campaign.

The #dragonbane QuickStart guide is a great way to try it out. Our 5E group needed a fill-in DM for a couple weeks. So I ran the adventure in the QuickStart guide with the pregen characters and we had a blast playing! It was a great fun. #ttrpg #dnd

Battlemap for Drakmar Pass. I did this one a while back for a #dragonbane Quickstart test with my 5E group, that went really well. I tried adding a little depth, everyone seemed to really like it.

Finished another section of the Oracle Cave battlemap. I’m thinking it’s going to be 13 parts. Each encounter will likely have its own section. #dragonbane

I found a use for an old wooden box laying around my wood shop. One old craftsman case. A few pieces of scrap wood and a piece of rigid interlocking floor mat. I used the smooth side of the floor mat, cut to fit snug.

Big imaginations. Even bigger monsters. 💜🐉 We've teamed up with Seattle Children's Hospital to bring to life eight incredible creatures dreamed up by kids in Misplaced Monsters, Volume Two!

The map from the TSR Lankhmar City of Adventure (1985), is still my favorite #TTRPG city map. With its modular “geomorph” areas it gave the DM a lot of options for customization, (My copy is pretty beat up).

I’m so happy I got this book! Like everything #freeleague publishes that I’ve seen, this book is beautifully designed and illustrated! And it comes with a wonderful, double sided map! #theonering MORIA, Through the doors of Durin.

Moose and squirrel. Ringo’s favorite toys. We’d replace them with new ones when they’d get too funky, so he started hiding them everywhere.

Not a big fan of the Savage World game mechanics, but this double-sided map of #LANKHMAR is absolutely beautiful. It’s printed on a heavy card stock, and is dry-erasable. The reverse side is beautiful map of NEHWON. It’s making me want to dust off my old LANKHMAR TSR/D&D 1E books from the ‘80s.

Had some free time today and started to a carve some of the initiative tiles I’m making for my #dragonbane campaign. It took about an hour to do two (of ten). I may regret my wood selection. But too far in to start over now!

I made a Dragon Cult Airship a while back for our 5E group. I wanted to make it playable like a chessboard, and kept it simple. Dug it out of the closet, I think I might try to paint it a little more realistically.

Battlemap for The Dead Eyes Cave from #dragonbane (went a little nuts with the black marker). But I do like the idea of separate map sections. Hoping it makes for a slower more dramatic reveal for the players.

The #dragonbane initiative cards were getting a little worn, so I’m making numbered runes/tiles. I just finished drawing the numbers, gotta carve out the numbers next. I might paint them to look like stone or just stain them.

Another quick one-room battlemap from #dragonbane I used the same grey weather strip material for the bloodstained alter with some red marker and Vallejo white paint.

Had some free time, made a small #Dragonbane battlemap. Took about an hour. Three layers of corrugated cardboard, (one for the base, middle for the map and top for the walls). Gray self-adhesive weather stripping for stones. It’s paintable and really easy to cut into stone shapes with scissors.

Sometimes you find great treasures at HPB! A Field Guide to the Little People a beautifully designed book with illustrations by Heinz Edelmann the art director and character designer for the 1968 animated Beatles film Yellow Submarine.

Had some free time today, and finished the battlemap for FORT MALUS, (a ruined dragon empire stronghold in the #Dragonbane, “Secret of the Dragon Emperor,” campaign.
