Yeah — the days when I would see something bad about to happen and think, "I'm just glad I'm not them," are over. The aftermath of knifing Biden because he didn't look good on camera, is not something you want to go through (again). Also, if you ask question, allow replies.

Burning leadership down, in the *hope* that someone better will magically emerge, is asinine. • Labour voters have the best PM they can get at the moment, in that Starmer is chastened & *eager* to win over voters. • Contact your MP; convey what you want of Starmer in exchange for his career.

Stephen Bush@stephenkb.bsky.social

As I wrote this morning, Catherine West freelancing, coupled with the thumping defeats Labour suffered last week, shifted a quite a lot of MPs from 'if we wait, maybe a better alternative to Keir Starmer will emerge' to 'the only way for something better to emerge is to seize the moment':

Naw… WH *economic advisors* are giving Pentagon timelines? From the article: "Kevin Hassett, head of the White House’s National Economic Council, offered the timeline along with a caveat that the ultimate decision on when the war will conclude lies with Trump." www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

bloomberg.comPentagon Sees Iran War Lasting Up to Six Weeks, Trump Aide SaysA top aide to President Donald Trump said the Pentagon estimates the Iran war, now in its third week, would take between four and six weeks.

The war is running wild. The WH doesn't know how to resolve the problem they started, so they're waiting for circumstances that they *think* will allow them to declare "victory" & bail.

To the extent anyone can be said to be in "control" in Iran, those people have essentially said that they are waiting for Trump to admit he was wrong — something that will never occur — before they'd be willing to consider releasing the Strait.

WH toadies tasked with saving Trump's face made this "Sasquatch is in over his head & needs everyone else to bail him out" masterpiece. • "100% defeated/decapitated," & simultaneously a persistent threat • "Artificial," and authentic. • Doesn't know how to make it happen, but it'll happen "soon".

If you're competing at the Olympics, you're there to represent your country. IOC's abuse of anti-coercion rules, to avoid controversy, is the same as promoting/defending an unjust war. IOC head Kristy Coventry (and the board overall) don't have their heads on straight.

As kids it was: "screenshots or it didn't happen;" now it's "video from multiple angles or you're a `domestic terrorist’."

Farrukh@implausibleblog.bsky.social

BBC New's BBC Verify with Ros Atkins Prove that President Trump and Kristi Noem lied When they both claimed that Alex Pretti was a domestic terrorist As the video evidence which they present, shows otherwise

"Informing Congress would've screwed with our plans," is not a state-of-affairs that US citizens ought to tolerate between their (ostensibly) co-equal executive & legislative branches of federal government. • Check/Update your Voter Registration • Vote Early this October!

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

RUBIO: "It's just not the kind of mission that you can pre-notify because it endangers the mission." TRUMP: "If I can add one thing to that. Congress has a tendency to leak. This would not be good."

Does anyone know who is *actually* giving direction at the Executive Branch these days? I know it's not this nutbag — he's just there for the cameras, and the nearby sycophants don't have the chops. Who's really giving the orders?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Q: Have you given any more thought to possibly suspending habeas corpus? TRUMP: Suspending who? Q: Habeas corpus TRUMP: I don't know. I'd rather leave that to Kristi.

…may also be good to figure-out who is feeding him these questions. Was he supposed to be prepared for this question & his sycophants dropped the ball?

@democrats.org Please consider framing the latest GOP bs in the following manner: "Instead of restoring the healthcare guarantees that their Big Beautiful Betrayal law took away, Republicans shut-down government and *now suddenly* want also to get rid of the Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act‼️

This law, enacted by Ronald Reagan in the 1980s, ensures public access to emergency services regardless of ability to pay (yes, including illegal aliens — which is sensible). Call your Republican representatives & tell them what you think of this move."

MADELEINE DEAN: The president is unhinged. He's unwell JOHNSON: A lot of folks on your side are too D: Oh my god, please. That performance in front of the generals? J: I didn't see it D: It's so dangerous! Our allies are looking elsewhere. Our enemies are laughing. You have a POTUS who's unwell.

Always be wary of MAGAs/Marxists posing as disaffected Democrats — "the answer that's politically correct," as if actually showing-up to vote in 2024 & electing Democrats into the majorities needed to prevent all this trouble, wasn't the solution all along.

Both groups have an interest in downplaying elections. They *want* to live under totalitarianism — they only disagree as to which populist demagogue they want at the helm.

Re: hyper consolidation — it would be in Disney's best interests to spin-off each of its subsidiaries (ABC, FOX, Marvel, ESPN + Hulu) into their own entities in exchange for shares with no power over operations & a binding veto on mergers/buy-outs. A corporate footprint is an attack surface now.

Ben Collins@bencollins.bsky.social

Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

Important: Gavin Newsom just announced that California, Oregon, Hawaii and Washington State released unified west coast vaccine recommendations expressly designed to counterprogram Trump/RFK's destruction of our public health system. This will gain momentum in blue states (see thread below).

Greg Sargent@gregsargent.bsky.social

This is good: With Trump/RFK destroying CDC, JB Pritzker's officials are exploring the possibility of buying Covid vaccines from manufacturers and distributing them in-state themselves, source tells me. Dem govs must step up and fill the void. New piece from me: newrepublic.com/article/1998...

Don't see a way out? • Register to vote, • Actually *show-up* for the election & vote for people who will empower the IRS to properly tax them! Yes, this whole thing could have been avoided if you'd simply have registered & shown-up to vote, so that they could be *properly* taxed!

Answer: Defense Undersecretary Elbridge Colby (overtly anti-Ukraine) urged Hegseth to withhold weapons shipments toward mitigating (alleged) US supply shortages. Hegseth authorized that move (allegedly) without running it by the White House.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

COLLINS: Did you approve of the pause of weapons shipments to Ukraine? TRUMP: We want to put defensive weapons because Putin is not treating human beings right COLLINS: So who ordered the pause? TRUMP: I don't know. Why don't you tell me?

The "you tell me" response might reliably translate into, "One of the many Russian operatives we allow to operate with near impunity within my administration."

Unless the lower courts can effectively get an alternative approach together in the next 30 days, which is not at all out of the question. Deciding that "complete relief" for the state plaintiffs means blocking the EO nationwide would be a pathway to avoid the patchwork in the interim.

“Our great Farmers and people in the Hotel and Leisure business have been stating that our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social. “Changes are coming.”
