I loved Elizabeth’s opinion writing workshop! Strongly recommend.

Elizabeth Spiers@espiers.bsky.social

I added some new opinion writing and personal essay workshop dates, including less expensive $100 audit only options. Info is here: www.elizabethspiers.com/workshops/

He is learning in real time that NATO is not an organization of aggression, unlike what Putin and Fox News keep saying.

Liberal professors: I’m afraid I or my students may get deported for wrongthink. Conservative professors: we feel more liberated now that other ppl aren’t stating their pronouns. I’m not being glib. It’s another great example of how Harper’s Letter-ed any both-sides take on speech ends up being.

Is there a betting market where I can place a wager that Pete Hegseth will eventually defend his handling of Iran by saying "in my defense, I was really drunk at the time"?

A flop-sweating Pete Hegseth closing his incoherent Iran briefing with a passage from Scripture. Dude isn't skilled enough to do introductions at a Des Moines Chamber of Commerce meeting.

I haven’t been online a lot, so maybe this has already been thoroughly discussed, but Trump doesn’t expect to win the next Nobel Peace Prize in spite of his attack on Iran, he expects to win because of it.

Another attempt by Trump to return to the early 1970’s, Florsheim’s golden days. You don’t have to be Dr Freud to know his dad wore them.

Everything’s fine

Last I checked, Dorsey followed—and I assume still follows—several white nationalists. It's evidently important to him that everyone sees their posts, whether they want to or not.

Magas love the military, as long as they're just murderbots.

The video of a United States Senator joining the violent removal of U.S. marine from a hearing and hideously breaking his arm in a door is an example of what has been unleashed in this country. They’re tapping in to get in on the violence. And then he bragged about it on X later.

She got fired and all she can think about is how much she regrets not doing more violence.

Kristi Noem: "It reminded me of the quote that is often attribute to George Orwell that states, 'People sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.'"

Jesse going with “people who’ve dedicated their lives to this issue have reached a different conclusion than I have, must be misinformation.”

Jesse Singal now appears to be siding with Ken Paxton on forced mental health conversion therapy for trans youth.

“That was a misspoke.”

🇺🇸 Reporter: You'll concede this is war? Markwayne Mullin: We haven't declared war. They declared war on us. Reporter: The president called it war and Secretary Hegseth called it war. Reporter: When you walked up just now, you called it war. Mullin: Okay. That was a misspoke.

“In order to connect with young men in America, we need to support those systems most effective as taking their money.”

Henry Burke@henryburke.bsky.social

Obama Campaign Manager Jim Messina is up on stage as the last event of the day. He cites being anti crypto, anti prediction markets and anti gambling as why Democrats are losing young men. Messina is on the board of Blockchain .com and lobbied for the American Gaming Association

I try to include his name in posts about him for this reason.

Lewis (decrepit fungus)@lewis-fungus.bsky.social

I'm sure I've missed a lot of solid jokes in the past couple years, but immediately muting his name has made this place way more bearable

This is one of the problems with anthropomorphizing institutions. “The New York Times” didn’t decide whether or not something was true. People different perspectives and opinions, and ultimately people in positions of power made a decision.

Jill Filipovic@jillfilipovic.bsky.social

What has the New York Times published knowing it was false? They don't always get the story right, and they issue corrections when they're wrong, but that's a pretty weighty claim to make.

Hegseth too drunk to find his "Operation Epic Fury" baseball cap.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Hegseth: "It turns out the regime who chanted 'death to America' and 'death to Israel' was gifted death from American and death from Israel. This is not a so-called 'regime change war,' but the regime sure did change."

Announcing your intention to commit war crimes to trigger the libs.

there's someone in my life that has kidney problems - not to the point of dialysis yet, but close. they're changing their diet to help slow it down, but it seems super limited to like beans and veggies. i'm looking for suggestions for other things i can cook them that wouldn't be bad for them.

shockingly people are capable of simultaneously, 1. Hating their government 2. Hating the people who bomb and sanction their country, making regular life impossible and murdering members of their family, even more

I know this is a crazy idea but what if the gains from automation go to business owners and investors like they have since the industrial revolution?

Over the last 6 months, Musk has made increasingly outlandish predictions around this theory of "sustainable abundance." In his utopian future, no one will work, money won't matter and everyone will have everything they want. So what does that slogan really mean? www.nytimes.com/2026/02/27/b...

Hey scientists: has anyone else been getting lots of invitations to sketchy conferences lately? I get several a week now. The webpage for the mtg is weird, with vague topics and distorted photos of scientists (some clearly fake) in odd fields. I know it's a scam but I can't figure out the angle.
