For the sake of the World Cup, which our house is thoroughly enjoying, it was a very good thing that the United States lost to Belgium. IMO the focus should be on them going into a polling place for this. It’s obvious her posting this is not a real cause for investigation but it’s likely a trial balloon for excuses to go into polling places.

They are a cult, you are a coalition. What works for them will not work for you. Just tape this post to your mirror and repeat it every morning until November.

As repulsed as I am by conspiracy theories, there does seem to be substantial evidence that the ruckus at the WHCA dinner was faked. And as a career journalist who believes good journalists (I.F. Stone, Lars-Erik Nelson) must always be outsiders, please do away with this odious annual event.

You hear more frequently that journalists to rally to the defense of democracy. I've lots of years in journalism, and I see the clarion call for journalists to be fearless truth tellers. Conflating them risks cutting corners. The press serves democracy by serving truth, not the reverse.
