I think one message that’s not getting enough play going into midterms is that we’ve slashed social programs, science research, environmental agencies, etc to the BONE and yet our national debt has exploded. How do we have less AND owe more? Where is the upside?

Ok, I’m enjoying @insomniac.games Wolverine so far but I think we all need to come to an agreement. If Troy Baker or Deborah Wilson are in your game, you should not model the character on them. It’s hard to believe in stakes for either as soon as we see them because they are too high profile to kill

big bad. You know how you get around that? Don’t make him look like an evil Troy Baker! It’s a distraction, it makes for predictable storytelling and I for one would rather it all be a surprise. I mean, holy crap, you could have made Essex bald and had everyone call him “The Professor” and made

us all believe he was Professor X before eventually revealing him to be Sinister but instead we get dark Troy who immediately gets a reverse tan so before I’ve even unlocked suits, I know where this is going.

kill off. Any dramatic tension you are building, any world you are crafting, any down-the-road twists are immediately killed the moment they come on screen which undercuts all the work your entire team has done. I just met Jean and I’ve known from the moment I saw him that Essex is going to be the

I wish I could sit down with the team leaders at Team Asobo. I’ve now platinumed all three Plague Tale games and they are so close to pushing through to that next level. Just a few tweaks and I really think they would be on par with mid-Uncharted Naughty Dog and I so badly want to see it happen.

Dawn went to take a bath tonight only to find that we had no hot water. She fell asleep about half an hour ago with plans to put in a repair ticket tomorrow morning. With her out cold, I read the instructions and I think I figured it out. It’s now blinking like it should. Did I fix a non-computer?

I was concerned I may have made it a bomb by accident but, to be fair, the water heater is behind the wall on Dawn’s side of the bed. Luckily, however, we do now have hot water. It may be a bomb but it’s also definitely a water heater too.

The wife’s best friend lives in Texas, has never had lobster, and is coming to visit in October which means I get to audition lobster places to find a good spot to take her. I do not object.

I’ve never seen a game so intent on having the post-game ruin the experience as Dragon Quest VII Remake. Nearly 20% of the items are locked behind a chance minigame. I was at 36 hours when I finished all other elements. I’m at 54 hours and I just finally unlocked the last thing.

Our Ops Manager brought in a bunch of books for his bookshelf, a pastiche of graphic novels, classic literature, and things like that”History of Hip-Hop,”. I was talking to him & he pulled one off the shelf & said “you’re gonna love this.” It was @mudron.bsky.social ‘s Star Trek TNG coloring book.

A few weeks ago, one of the neighbors at my office had a crate delivery. The side said “Longway Construction” but, because the crate was half in, half out of their loading doors, all that was visible from our back door was “LONG CON” And I wish I had taken a picture. What an apt metaphor.

Just finished Adventures of Elliot and I gotta say, that was an absolutely charming game. I think some quality of life changes would really help in making it feel like it respects my time but it’s another win for the team behind Octopath Traveler!

I can’t tell you how free it feels to not care at all about GTAVI. I know y’all care and that’s great but not having to be a part of that mad rush to preorder and clear my schedule for release is really nice.

Feeling the need to develop a toolset strictly designed to replace the best of what humanity has going for it that also destroys the natural resources humanity needs & is already running short on & forcing it on humanity (who wants nothing to do with it) is the absolute worst of humanity. I hate AI.

I gotta say, I know there’s a lot going on between the Epstein Files, the World Cup, Iran, threats to @doublefine.com and other XBox-owned indie studios, and the reflecting pool but the lack of chatter about the season finale of Widows Bay tonight is alarming.

If there was any question about what kind of person I am, I just washed down my sleep meds with a 20 oz Red Bull. Hey @redbull.com , I really think this kind of behavior warrants a sponsorship. Goofy races, gaming, legit sports are covered. How about competitive sleeping?

Sometimes, you want to see people lose big but you don’t have the authority to do it and aren’t even sure it should be done. When in that predicament, it might be wise to give them enough rope that they do it themselves. I’m hoping that’s the case. I swear this isn’t about politics in any way.

a lot of Kena:Bridge of Spirits (in the best of ways) with a creole twist. Outside of a lot of glitchy ledge grabs, it plays really well, the characters are fun, and the story feels earned. The real star of the show though is the music. I just fought Two-Toed Tom and holy hell, what a banger!

In the last month, I platinumed Pragmata which was great, Mouse PI for Hire which would be better with some quality of life updates, Vampire Crawlers which was somehow just as addictive as its predecessor, and now I’m on to South of Midnight. It’s a good time to be a gamer.

In Lake Forest, CA, the gas was $6.50 a gallon this morning. $55 got me a little over 8 gallons where it got me almost 12 gallons this time last year. I would love to see a thread where everyone calls out how much they pay at the pump compared to a year ago.

I’m about 2/3 of the way through Mouse PI and I’m not loving it for three reasons. 1) it overstays its welcome by a lot 2) it’s missing major quality of life stuff like the ability to revisit previous locations, select locations off a list, keep track of thing (how many side quests have I completed)

or skip animations (which makes the baseball card game UNBEARABLE), and 3) most egregiously, all the characters look more or less the same. What a great opportunity to crib Dick Tracy and give all the characters a unique look. If you take off Jack’s jacket, he looks like 50% of the enemy mice

and every NPC. Considering how many goofs and Easter eggs there are, I can’t fathom how the art team whiffed it this bad. I could take an afternoon and redesign the major players in the story. I’m bummed to see so much wasted potential.

@tomsteyerhq.bsky.social was making good headway on the “I was an evil billionaire but now I’m a good billionaire who wants my legacy to be more than my money” front but man, his attack ads have really killed that momentum, especially since they are against other dems which just feels gross.

I can’t believe I’m saying this as NOTHING about any of the marketing materials lit up any part of my brain but I am absolutely loving PRAGMATA. Like, more than RE9 or just about anything else I’ve played this year. Holy crap, @capcom.bsky.social. Well done.

@awintory.bsky.social dude, congrats on the win. I played the game for the first time last week. My wife watched a while and said “this is beautiful. And the music…” It was a pleasure to see her light up when I told her it was your handiwork and now she wants to pepper you with even more questions.
