The kind of nerd that teaches themselves computational geometry for fun. Into ttrpgs, gaming, sci-fi and fantasy, crafty stuff, and so, so many ADHD "enhanced" hobbies. He/him, they/them is fine too.

Just realized I don't have a pinned post on bsky yet. *Smiles awkwardly at the camera* Hello, I'm Blaine. I'm mostly on here for (indie)game dev stuff and ttrpg stuff, but I've got the ADHD so I'm also interested in basically every art or crafting hobby ever, and a million other things besides.

I spent an excessive number of years moderating a gaming forum and I learned a great deal about community spaces and cultivation, whether I wanted to or not. I have critical advice for anyone who runs a game store or gaming convention. Please share this thread with people who run those things.

My character is Jersey Bob. The year is 2487 and he is an investigative journalist on one of the biggest stations in the belt. He is a rat that accidentally uplifted himself after rummaging through pharmaceutical waste and inexplicably has a New York accent from ages past.

"Look, one day I was chasin that good trash smell like all my pals, the next I woke up with a ratfucker of a hangover and could talk. I'm as confused about it as you are! You figure it out, let me know, I could use some friends my own size that want to talk about something other than the three Fs."

"I know what you're thinking, who names a rat Bob? Me. I did. I was having my first ever conversation in legger talk. It was a very confusing time for me and the lady asked my name and I panicked. Besides, do you really have that much room to talk... *squints at name tag* Bradley?"

Co-signed with my whole ass scatterbrained heart.

“I use AI because I can’t do X” cool, learn “well I cant learn how because I don’t have talent” okay setting aside my ‘talent is propaganda” soapbox for a second - have you considered collaborating with a group of fellow sickos with varying skillsets?? It is truly incredible, I highly recommend it.

Me: why is this Excel file so slow? Me: why is this Excel file so large? Me a bit later: WTF!?!? WHY ARE THERE 61,000 (mostly hidden) SHAPES IN THIS SHEET!?!? ~signed, guy who just had to write a macro to safely delete them all without crashing.

"if people would just vote for the lesser evil-"

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Look at the shabby state and increasingly authoritarian trajectory of the country and ask yourself if we can endure 2 more years of a lawless Trump administration wreaking havoc with no check from Congress, then vote accordingly. This is not the time for a protest vote or purity politics.

I would take more seriously the people promoting the idea of AI consciousness if they first materially grappled with the (much more obvious) consciousness of animals and how that affects our moral obligations to them.

"we want to use the climate destroying plagiarism machine made by people who are actively belligerent and say it will kill us all, but we don't want people to yell at us for it."

Interviewer: can you explain this gap in your resume? Engineer: due to high stress duty cycles and reduced work volume projections the unit was taken offline for preventative maintenance. Unit is now fully restored and ready to return to operation for new product lines.

Interviewer: can you explain this gap in your resume? Historian: We don't have primary sources from that period, as is often the case, but the candidate's performance (Nome et. al, 1-2) in the surrounding years (Ibid., 2-3) builds sufficient pattern (Ibid., 1) to move forward.

X days from now: I gave grok my credit card and it bought $30000 worth of anime models. No one could've predicted this.

You know what I don't see on the agent who shot a dad with a military assault rifle? THE BODY-CAM THAT THE TRUMP ADMIN HAS PROMISED TO PUT ON ALL ICE AGENTS.

Eric Umansky@ericumansky.bsky.social

See this ICE agent? He’s a holding a *military assault rifle.* And according to a witness, that‘s the agent who shot a man **while the man was in his car with his 5-year-old kid.** Also, I’m no expert, but i’m pretty sure it’s bananas to hold your phone in one hand & your ASSAULT RIFLE in another

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they did not consider the idea that America wasn't the main character for any reason.

Do…do they know who won at the Alamo?

The thing that gets me is ... These billionaire fucks are never working for anything more than more money. Sure they'll say it's for a base on Mars or the 3 day work week or whatever the fuck. But it's only ever lip service that could vaguely be at the end of what they've decided to do right now.

Gonna start a podcast* about being a Transdimensional Logistics Officer in charge of picking people to isekai, facilitating said isekai, and picking worlds and cheat powers etc for them. *I do not, under any circumstances have the executive function to follow through on making a podcast.

Nebulous them: "you have to put hot liquid warnings on everything or you'll get sued into the ground" Me:*looks at all the crimes being done* "where are all those litigious people and companies that I was told to worry about? Seriously, do you have their number? Feels like they should be on this."

Giving myself a cookie as a treat because I made a generic reusable controller for my bevy experiments. Honestly, the hardest part was setting up an abstraction layer so I can use it as a base implementation of wasd controls plus some basics (jump, sprint, etc) and only do fancier stuff if I need it

The other big thing missing from this experiment so far is physics. Gonna need to do some research for that probably, from what I'm seeing there's a couple plugins people use. I also want to see if I can get marching cubes working. If I do then I'll be halfway to anywhere, more or less.

Idea for this experiment is mainly for me to work on it in a way that all the resulting code is separated by domain in reusable chunks. So far the controller meets that, not sure how I'll structure the next push just yet.

Basic screenshot is basic, but the capsule moves when I press the buttons. So it works, dammit. I think I need to flip one of the axes though, or maybe rotate the camera starting position. Eh, the actual camera needs to be redone entirely, but that's a problem for a different day.

In a game of I'm sorry did you say street magic and we just invented a wet two headed cryptid that steals beer and likes to party.

"How did you get into ttrpgs?" Buddha rubbed his belly and told me to meet him after school.

"How did you get into ttrpgs" Satan, of course. It was the late 80s, after all.

At a bar and one of the TVs has an anti Abdul El-Sayed ad and I don't have the audio or CC and like half the imagery is just socialism spelled out with dominoes or underlined or whatever and it's just... Completely laughable.

Ttrpg designers: I write directly into layout like a freak! Ttrpg consumers and devs: *loud applause* Me: We are a billion $ industry. We deserve SW designed for us to directly design into! Ttrpg designers: *crickets* Software devs that are also in ttrpgs: *crickets* Everyone else: *crickets*

IDK I just think it's interesting. Not even bad. Like, some writers still use type writers. Creative processes are personal and weird! It's probably at least partially because I'm a small account. I don't understand it tho.

Sometimes they only load on wifi. Sometimes they only load on mobile data. Sometimes they don't load at all! 🙃

Pbta game except instead of different playbooks it's different decks that you can draft new moves from. On level ups you can pick to draft or upgrade a move. Some special moves/conditions let you draft from different decks.

The decks have non classed modifier cards like equipment, relationships, spells, etc. So players and gm can build NPCs and enemies modularly by playing the modifier cards on base cards. Some cards require a roll/check to activate.

The cards all have stats printed on them and you can also optionally use them to play a tcg. The GM has a separate deck of cards that drafts new cards based on narrative milestones or something else, starting with mostly goons.

Feeling ambivalent about boycotts these days. Not in a being a scab/crossing the picket line way, just in a like, "I already never would've given them money so my part of the boycott won't register" and a "unless I decide to go off grid I can't realistically boycott them in any way that matters" way
