Huge point. Dems have missed a major opportunity to invest in comms networks in all 50 states. Big mistake

jamelle@jamellebouie.net

the democratic party’s basic problem is it has almost no control over how its message reaches the ears of voters, especially outside of presidential election years. but rather than devote serious time, attention and cash to that problem its consultants and pundits want to fight factional battles

It’s embarrassing how all these journalists just sit there and take what Bannon says as legitimate. Airing this unconstitutional drivel without rebuttal has become the hallmark of the national press.

CNN@cnn.com

Former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon claims that there is a plan to get around the 22nd Amendment to make way for Trump to serve a third term. CNN's Steve Contorno reports.

The amusing thing about this clip is the infrastructure bill was literally the first and only thing Nancy Mace brought up in terms of her accomplishments in Congress. Her biggest win for her district was legislation she voted against.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Nancy Mace: "In my time in Congress, I actually helped secure the largest infrastructure grant in state history, in South Carolina history. So I've worked very hard on the policies that matter to voters here." (Mace is taking credit for legislation she voted against!)

A hugely important point is that international students pay full tuition, so they actually make it CHEAPER for US students to attend college, by allowing for more money for scholarships. Across the board, the reality is we need MORE international students.

When there was positive economic data under Biden, the New York Times told us to worry, with headlines like: “Why a Strong U.S. Economy Is Making Stock Investors Jittery” and “Inflation Has Been Easing Fast, but Wild Cards Lie Ahead” But when there is worrisome data under Trump, NYT reassures us:

Trump believes that all water functions like a kitchen sink.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "I've been fighting with them for a long time about allowing the water to come down from the pacific northwest. We actually opened up that water pretty strongly, we got a lot of opposition from the governor. We opened it up anyway and the water is coming down...they've gotta allow full water"

The impacts of school choice have been particularly clear in Arizona, offering an early picture of K-12 education under the Republican vision of maximum school choice. Here, public schools are starting to close.

Owens’ position is utterly bananas. We’re going to learn a lot more about disinformation, manipulation, and celebrity in the next decade. She’s a working case study.

Yashar Ali 🐘@yasharali.bsky.social

The position Candace Owens is taking here, that the USA has not been a sovereign nation since JFK was assassinated, is a Neo-Nazi position. And when I say Neo-Nazi, I mean that quite literally: as in, guys who wear the swastika and think Hitler was a great man. Not your average antisemite/racist.

Dems need a national reset. Schumer has not won big races when it counts. But Dems are wimps and won’t defy what has been obvious for a while. 2026 Will tell the tale, I hope.

The Bulwark@thebulwark.com

A recent WSJ poll found Democrats’ popularity at its lowest point in 35 years, with 63 percent of voters holding an unfavorable view of the party. Maybe that's not because Trump is popular, but because Dems have to fight harder. ICYMI @lauren-egan.bsky.social: www.thebulwark.com/p/chuck-schu...

Come on. Smith (perhaps) engaging in bad lawyering on jurisdiction doesn’t negate what is happening here. I’m also not sure how anyone reasonably could have removed that case out of Florida.

Pam Keith@pamkeithdc.bsky.social

🤨 Jack failed us. His decision to file the documents case in FL was one of the single most asinine moves I have ever seen, and I called it that at the time. If Jack gets railroaded by the train he failed to stop, 🤷🏽‍♀️

The Bar Exam has little to do with competence and much more to do about controlling the market of attorneys as law schools continue to admit more and more of them to fund operations.

I still laugh at The NY Times running a front page story about Dershowitz not having any friends at Chilmark General Store anymore.

A.R. Moxon@juliusgoat.bsky.social

Just saw a headline "Alan Dershowitz says he was refused pierogi at Martha's Vineyard farmers market" and I would like to inform newspapers that noted shitheel and turbocreep Alan Dershowitz being treated by his community as if he were a noted shitheel and turbocreep is not news.

This is an interesting (and developing) story. Very much worth following.

AG Pam Bondi alerting Trump that his name was in the Epstein files would in normal times force her resignation. It won't. Of course, it also demonstrates how far she is willing to go to cover up for him, which is the point of her being in this job. MAGA is at a crossroads.

Blake Rutherford reposted

To put it differently: Trump's continued commitment to the coverup only makes sense if there's something really damning about Trump in the Epstein files.

Bill Kristol@billkristolbulwark.bsky.social

The Epstein birthday card is now public. (Trump can continue to pretend it's not real, but that's not the point.) The point: If the card were the worst thing for Trump in the files, why wouldn't Trump now make the Epstein files public? Conclusion: There are worse things for Trump in the files.

This is the first thing Schumer has done right in years

Kyle Griffin@kylegriffin1.bsky.social

Schumer is calling the congressional recess Republicans' "Epstein recess." "The ghost of the disgraced Jeffrey Epstein is haunting our Republican colleagues so much so that Speaker Johnson decided to cut bait and send the House home to escape discussions about Epstein instead of doing their jobs."

He also got a huge boost from Steve Case, Ron Klain, and Amy Chua

Another important read. Beshear misread the electorate in trans participation in sports (and he’s been too quick) to show up at all these new Dem Party whatever-they-are, but there is promise there. More than any of the others. As Democrat Beshear eyes 2028, he’ll need to deal with ‘the groups’

As these silly, pointless “new” Democratic Party groups crop up ( a haven for donors looking for clout and consultants looking for cash) it is worth reading how misguided their efforts are. Democrats have only one escape route

The idiots in Biden’s White House are going to send the legal efficacy of the autopen to the U.S. Supreme Court. That’ll dominate headlines for a while. Thanks to the people who mistook limping into the White House on Trump’s COVID mistake with a mandate. It’s killing the Democratic Party.
