Q: If in Arkansas, Sarah Sanders had to send letters, as you think about remaking FEMA, how can assure people that when disaster hits states are not gonna be begging for help? NOEM: The president's vision for FEMA is we empower states to respond to their constituents much more than FEMA has done

Perhaps, we should start asking the TACO admin what they are doing with all of the money that FEMA is allocated, but no longer distributing. Ice Barbie cannot spend that much on more plastic for her face and a makeup team for photo ops.

First, we review. Is this a red state or blue state? Blue state? No problem. DENIED. Red state? Has the governor been fully compliant with the President's agenda? Is tribute delivered from that state been up to the level expected? Strictly case by case in this scenario.

So somehow it is going to be more efficient and effective to replicate the same equipment, command & communication infrastructure, staffing, etc. in each of 50 states than to consolidate that in a central organization and dispatch as needed? These people are idjits.

Those broke ass Southern States being funded by Blue States are SOL when a hurricane hits, as they just have to pay for it themselves now. You get what you voted for.

So why are we sending our tax dollars to the Federal Govt if states are on their own in relation to Fed support in both FEMA & healthcare? Cancelling state construction projects. Why send $ to DC? Anyone remember the Boston Tea Party over TEA? CA/Newsom should start this non compliance.

I mean, y’all have managed to set the bar pretty low. If a governor were to spit on their constituents asking for help, that would be responding more than FEMA has so far this year

I live in a small town in Ohio. Why would I think my wonderful but small local first responders would be better prepared to handle the occasional damaging tornado touchdowns we get than, oh, I dunno, people who are trained specifically to respond to and manage weather disasters and emergencies??

If they’re functionally putting disaster relief on the states, I support it. Red states deserve to feel the brunt of Republican governance. They will completely mismanage it and people will die.

How come I haven’t heard anybody ask her how much money the federal government would let the states keep, that normally goes to the federal government, to shoulder the burden that used to fall on them? Can’t wait, because I’ll bet it’s the grand sum of… zero dollars!🤣😂

Then we the states deserve to keep our tax money, the red states will find out real fast how little they contribute to all the services and funding they've been given!

They may not help "red states" to the level they need because the FEMA budget will be spent on DHS Barbie cosplay outfits, portraits, and asskissing commercials/advertising to praise their cult leader. 🙄

When Noem says "empower states", what she really means is abandon them. They always backfill their stupid decisions with an even dumber statement. This is your typical ready aim fire, I have yet to see any kind of transition plan for any of the services the Fed provide.

In CA, USGovt owns 45.5M acres of land or about 45.4% of the state's total area, according Congress.gov. Fires, mud slides, floods, EQ’s have a tendency to spread w/o regard as to artificial land boundaries. Noem wants to dissolve FEMA & return disaster mgmt to states but it’s a pipe dream.

So blue states definitely need to withhold tax revenue in order to fund/increase their own departments of education, social safety nets, and emergency management. If federal government isn’t providing services, they don’t need the money.

Exactly, it’s grovel and maybe we’ll give you a pittance, but more likely tell you to fuck off. Noem is basically saying they’re just cheerleading for the states to take care of themselves.

So, FEMA Will no longer pre-position emergency food, water, equipment, personnel from all over the country to Florida, Georgia, SC, NC, so they are ready to provide aid when the next hurricane strikes the east coast, right? These states are going to do it themselves, right? Well good luck with that.
