Every midterm since 1980 where Republicans lost control of one or both houses was a direct reaction to actual Republican policy. Every wave election where Democrats lost control was a reaction to a media narrative that blamed extrinsic global macroeconomic conditions on Democrats. Fight me.

In 1969 WMAR-TV reporter Susan White interviewed DON RICKLES on location in Yugoslavia whilst he was shooting “Kelly’s Heroes” (working title at the time “The Warriors”). RICKLES had a reputation for not letting reporters get a word in edgeways, so Susan decided to hilariously turn the tables…

John Roberts and four other Supreme Court justices have betrayed the U.S. Constitution. The checks are gone. Imbalance prevails. The American experiment in self-governance is imploding in real time.

Trump: "I didn't go to Congress. Remember Sleepy Joe? 'Oh, if they would give me approval in Congress!' You're not gonna get approval. You just do it. You're the president."

This is about Ilhan Omar. But it's also about control, intimidation, & authoritarianism. The message is: we can do this to a member of Congress; no foreign-born American is safe. The administration is using fear as a tactic to discourage people from voicing opposition.

And, once again, I have a moment when the fatalistic stoicism I resigned myself to as everything we warned them would happen happened drains away and I'm left screaming "just what the fuck else did you imbeciles who could have stopped this think was going to happen if you let him win?"

Billions of dollars’ worth of contracts predicting oil would fall and the S&P 500 would rise were placed about 15 minutes before Trump announced a U-turn on Iran in a post on Truth Social. CFTC staff began to investigate...then were told to lay off. www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...

The fact that Republicans are accusing Ukraine of interfering with US elections by attacking a MOSCOW, RUSSIA data center kinda says it all, doesn't it? Republicans are traitors. Zelenksyy just pulled a W we can't even fathom yet. #OperationQuietPiggy #SlavaUkraini ✊🇺🇦

It continues to be interesting to me just how many men, when presented with a clear and obvious answer to a test of morality and empathy, will nevertheless choose to "devil's advocate" themselves into a position of complete assholery

IMHO, it was a data grab along with Musk removing those that were involved in investigating Tesla/SpaceX government contracts. The whole thing was a scam from start to finish.

Your regular reminder: If the Russians stop fighting, the war ends. If the Ukrainians stop fighting, their land will be occupied, their leaders will be killed, their history and language will be erased, their children will be kidnapped to serve Russia.

We are projected to spend $268 BILLION on deportations — costing the average American taxpayer about $2,358 (according to @epi.org). But somehow we “can’t afford” to make sure hungry children can eat or ensure everyone, no matter their income, can access healthcare. Priorities.

In today’s Vatnik Soup, we introduce Hasan Piker, a Turkish-American streamer and millionaire. He’s best known for his champagne socialism, rabid criticism of the US and Israel, support for the Soviet Union and for Chinese and Russian invasions, and for mistreating his dog. 1/20

The failure to seriously engage with the text and ask questions proves this. Believers should be able to engage skeptics and hold their own, and skeptics should be invited to bring their questions. If Jesus is “the Truth,” then questions should be seen as an opportunity to engage

You know, the one person in this country and in the whole foul orgy of quisling treachery, destruction, depravity, and looting who never gets the sustained and microscopic scrutiny she needs is Suzie Wiles. None of us are supposed to remember the 2016 primaries when Berners harassed superdelegates, caused a near riot at the Nevada Democratic convention, compiled lists of Bernie's biggest online critics so they could target them for dogpiling/bullying/harassment and so on. And 2020 wasn't much better.

The Platner story shows how political consultants should not parachute into a state and pick a candidate. There were a bunch of solid Democratic candidates in the state. Maybe the elites don’t know better than the people who actually live in the state?

I give it about a year before Platner ends up on Joe Rogan announcing he’s a Republican and saying how he didn’t leave the Democratic Party, but the Democratic Party left him.
