Results aside this is the kinda play from Eklund I day dreamed of when doing my post draft homework. Not counting my chickens or anything but damn it's exciting.

Varly is a great story but this was a tough one and he's had a few already.

I can't believe how good Vekie looks in his rookie year. This is the smallest he'll ever be and he looks like he belongs 100%. Even when he's losing a wall battle he's winning the race to the puck/net right after.

I've said it before, but Islanders Anxiety is mandatory listening. The Ho-Sang weird Islanders episode is just absurdly good. Part of me wishes this pod had more reach because EVERY hockey fan should listen to it but I'm eternally grateful that we have an isles focused pod of this quality.

One strange outcome of this Isles season is that I've always seen the Habs as kindred fans and they've been, like, really weird and aggressive about Schaef all year. Completely changed my view of them.

I took a break from the isles when they fired Trotz, still followed but no more watching all 82 games. Came back big time this season and had an absolute blast. I say this because I think a lot of people should take breaks. Sports can be the best and can be the worst. It's okay to skip the worst.

I just want the isles to be totally unethical vs the Canes and get Schaef a goal on Tues. Would love an Eiserman/Eklund call up to see how they fare but won't blame that for not happening.

Everything else aside it is wild that the isles worst month of the season is the last. There's a ton of obvious reasons and I'm not remotely making excuses but I do wonder if there's some injuries we don't know about.
