It makes sense to me that I've never had a dream job because I do not dream of labor, but it sure has made it difficult to find any sense of direction for anything I'd remotely enjoy doing long-term.
I think I just have this overarching feeling like this world was not made for me. Obviously true, but I feel I have tried so hard to adapt. But it feels like the numbness has been my only way of surviving. I'm trying so hard to break it, even if I will just end up in this same place again
Anyway, sorry for the 6am rant. I'm trying to flip my sleep schedule just to try and feel Something, so my head may not be in the right place. I feel its healthy to just share feelings and be human from time to time, even if this isn't the most appropriate space for it
It makes sense to me that I've never had a dream job because I do not dream of labor, but it sure has made it difficult to find any sense of direction for anything I'd remotely enjoy doing long-term.
I'm trying so hard to do all the "right" things. Working to support myself & my partner so we can have health insurance. Saving what I can. Going to therapy. Trying to maintain connections. But everything feels so dull. It's hard to find any meaning on any given day. So often I just want to give up
I wish I weren't such a stranger. I feel so out of place everywhere. Making friends online just had never seemed to work out for me. But I think what hurts more... I went to a furry convention, an acquaintance held a queer-only bbq. Even in these queer spaces, I feel like I don't fit in.

I scored low on all my test results. All categories of job can go up to an interest rating of 40. My highest was 11. My biggest priority was "time freedom", which tells me my biggest priority for a job is how much I'm not forced to interact with said job
I keep coming back to that same word. Anhedonia. I don't feel fulfillment from my job. It's not hard, but theres nothing to look forward to, and no opportunity for advancement. I've tried to make friends, to at least have something to look forward to, but everyone is just kind of in their own bubble

I really tried earlier this year. I registered with a career center, did some assessments. I thank the counselor I spoke to for being so patient with me.
But after an hour of me giving lukewarm responses to every job title she showed me, she said "well look through this list on your own time and give us a call back so we can start the next step." And I knew it was over.

Time and time again with every job I've held, I grow this uncaring numbness that leeches into my daily life that makes it hard to love and appreciate the world around me. I feel so much pressure to find the "right" job so that I never feel that again, even though it feels almost inevitable.

I think I don't have any strong feelings towards the oot remake, but I always wonder when the pendulum is going to swing the other way. It's cool that Nintendo is making these incredibly-detailed remakes now that they have the capability, but I'd rather it not stay this way
I've seen a handful of people say "this is what the game looked like to me as a kid", but for me...no? Like I understood there were hardware limitations, but that graphical simplicity was part of the game's identity. Things are lost when you push things towards photorealism
I can appreciate it as a new and different take on an old game, but I feel we shouldn't equate more realistic and detailed graphics as better or a strict upgrade over what was already present.
Trying to read more to understand where my therapist has guided me. I just keep coming back to the topic of emotional numbing. It's not as if I don't feel joy or sadness. But I draw blanks at "how do I want to spend my time", "what makes me feel valued", "what gives me a sense of fulfillment", etc.
It's just frustrating. Being in your 30s, having lived life, having been able to answer these questions at some point, but now it's just.. blank. I can recognize when I'm doing something I "like", when acts of kindness are given to me, but I can't point to anything that really resonates
I am at least am trying to push myself to make friends and connections for the first time in like 10 years. But it's hard in your 30s even for a normal person, harder still when your interests are so niche, even harder still when you don't trust yourself..
Even though I'm not involved with sm64 whatsoever, this tas is one that feels very close to my heart. 2009 was the year I discovered all the incredible tas work being done in SM64, and what ultimately got me into speedrunning half my lifetime ago
Blink and youβll miss a star or Toad! This Super Mario 64 120 Star TAS uses every frame and 14 years of perfection to deliver absolute precision.

I have incredible admiration for the dedication, patience, discovery, and community that goes into projects like this. It's a work of art that has been painted by many different hands in many different ways. For how "robotic" tases are portrayed, the effort that goes into them is beautifully human
I recently came across the word demigirl, and idk how I hadn't seen it before but something about it feels like it fits. I'd say I definitely lean femme most of the time
Sometimes I wish she/her felt like it fit though. I'm comfortable with any pronouns, but having people refer to me exclusively with she/her just didn't feel correct
I've been doing some speedruns for Project Reignition; an excellent fan remake of one of my favorite Sonic games. Here's a playlist of all my runs so far

They're in the process of deciding gold requirements, so it's been super nice having some motivation to do runs. They also added a kb/m control scheme I requested and it's sooo much nicer than playing on controller.
My therapist insists I have "many doors" of opportunities and interests to explore, but I feel so lost like I can't even see the doors. My mind just draws a blank at even coming up with things I'd want to try.
π¨ BREAKING: A federal appeals court has ruled, in a 2-1 decision, that the Trump-Hegseth transgender military ban is likely unconstitutional, finding that the policy appears to be driven by a βbare desire to harm a politically unpopular groupβ and is βboth arbitrary and based upon animus.β 1/3
Met with a career advisor today and found it interesting that both her and my therapist say I'm in an "exploration phase." I'm 33 next week and it feels more like exploration life π₯²
I just feel so frustrated with myself for having no sense of direction and feeling like there's nothing I want to do for fun or enjoyment. It's not as if I don't want to do things but it's always "I want to do this because it is the responsible thing to do."
