On Foojay: @frankdelporte.be explains how Sheetmusic4J 0.0.5 adds LilyPond import and export. Load a .ly file and render it natively in JavaFX, or save any score as LilyPond for a PDF. It also brings engraving improvements like nested tuplets. foojay.io/today/sheetm... #Java #JavaFX

@maven.apache.org's Javadoc plugin adds `--no-fonts` by default. To add the fonts, you would need to disable that by setting `disableNoFonts` to `true`. I admit that reading this is a bit convoluted, but at least the default keeps your Javadoc archives small!

Dear friends who don't speak German: Go to YouTube ASAP, turn on subtitles → autogenerated translation and watch this video! TL;DR: #WSocial is posting legal names, nationalities and approx. birthdays of verified users as a public record on the Atmosphere. Confronted, they claim it's "by design" 🤯

I often see people argue that clean energy is not reducing emissions, because it just adds to rather than replaces fossil fuels. This argument is deeply misguided – clean energy built since 2005 has displaced 23 billion tons. I dive in over at The Climate Brink:

theclimatebrink.comWhat if the world hadn't built wind and solar?Clean energy does not simply “add to” global energy use; it displaces fossil sources that would otherwise get built.

I went with EUPLv1.2 for betterbranch because it closes the SaaS loophole and embraces software interoperability. What drives your choice when licensing your Java tools - strict copyleft, permissive, or just whatever the project template defaults to?

Did you know that betterbranch is EUPLv1.2-licensed? If you are building Java CLI tools or want a Git metadata helper that embraces modern European copyleft - complete with network-distribution coverage and solid legal interoperability - check it out. Built on JGit! github.com/bmarwell/bet...

If anyone knows why Google deindexed my blog... I don't, hints are highly appreciated 🙏🏻

BetterBranch: a tiny, but useful git helper. Written in #Java, compiled to native via #GraalVM, archive creation and distribution via #JReleaser! 🚀 blog.bmarwell.de/2026/08/05/b... First blog post in a while! 😀

The apps I developed in my company run on #Java 25, #JakartaEE 11. Those who say "enterprise banking" or #fintech is slow and lagging behind needs to explain this to me. Automation and great #IBM support definitely helps, but it is 99% the mindset of those in charge. Prove me wrong. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Why not Java 26? Sure, I could. But look at the changes: JEPs 524, 525, 526, 529, 530 are only preview/incubator. JEPs 516, 522 is hotspot-only (I use OpenJ9 🚀). JEP 517 is http/3. No endpoints. 🤷🏻‍♂️ JEP 504 is just an API removal. JEP 500 just issues new warnings. So, why bother..?

Meanwhile in Germany: Deutsche Bahn (Railway Company) says: It's too hot! Don't use our services! We don't trust our ACs either! OR as we say in Germany: an unforeseeable natural disaster.
