I’m honoring the first anniversary of my wife’s passing tonight by listening to some of her favorite music. Woman knew a banger when she heard one Linda Ronstadt Celeste Paul Simon She told me if I hadn’t had jazz on our first date there wouldn’t have been a second one. Tough but fair

American very fortunate to be in Ireland this week. Nobody here is talking about Trump, school shootings, midterms, AI, WH press secretaries, ICE, etc. It’s a nice break for my nervous system, but it makes you realize how much stress we’re under every day from this constant assault of nonsense

I wonder if things would be better if we weren’t so obsessed with labeling things. What if, instead, we looked at situations and asked simple questions like “Is this right or wrong?” “Does this help a lot of people or hurt a lot of people?” “Who is making money from this?” Just a thought

Walking through the garden, looking at my phone, then had a fortunate glimpse into a future conversation in the emergency room: “What were you doing, sir, right before you stepped on the poisonous snake?“ Put my phone away

Got a subscription gift box from Ireland yesterday. Among several nice things was a packet of Keogh’s cheddar and onion. I have Guinness in the fridge. Not Tayto and tap (IYKYK), but it’s close as I can get here in ‘Murica. Is it sad that I’m saving these for a special occasion? ☘️

Thank you CNBC for using the word “false!” “Trump added that his tariff policies enabled the dividend plan, claiming they have helped bring $21 trillion in U.S. investment. That figure, and similarly huge numbers that Trump has claimed…, have been repeatedly fact-checked as false.”

cnbc.comTrump's $1 trillion-plus 'dividend' plan meets immediate bipartisan pushbackSuch a payout could cost more than $1 trillion and is likely to face legal obstacles.

I painted this today to capture how I feel after losing my wife almost a year ago to cancer. “Cronaím thú uaim” is one way of saying “I miss you” in Irish. It translates literally into English as “I feel you gone from me.” I think this Irish expression captures loss and longing in a beautiful way.

Who else in the public eye can you remember, over and over again, regardless of politics, using her influence to just do what she saw as the right thing to help people?

I’m a recent widower who lost my beloved wife of 36 years to cancer 10 months ago. I’m trying to adjust now to a life I never asked for and didn’t want. It occurs to me that a lot of us feel that way right now for a lot of reasons. Hang in there, be kind to yourself, we will get through this

RSA v NZL on RugbyPass: 1. Fifth Element deep cut - can’t watch w/o saying out loud “Lilu Dallas Rugby Pass” 2. Commentary has been fairly brutal. Talking over ref mic, half the comments don’t make sense, ID’g wrong players. Hope it gets better. But top flight rugby at least

From a quick internet search of public data in the US since 1900: Deaths from polio disease: More than 7,516 Deaths caused by polio vaccine : At least 5 documented Difference : Polio disease deaths were at least 1,500 times more numerous Fight nonsensical gibberish with actual facts

You don’t have to change the whole world today. Just leave your little corner of it a bit kinder than you found it. A gentle word, a helping hand, a moment of courage—small things have a way of traveling farther than we’ll ever know. Go be someone’s small bit of good today. 🌼 #Jaye’sMorningLight

When I was younger I was a Cowboys fan. My wife-to-be was a (then) Redskins fan. Before we married, I had to convert and agree to raise the children as WAS fans. If you're a fan of either team, you understand the enormity of the ask and my sacrifice for a happy marriage

How the hell can we be “GREAT” if there are children (or anyone) going hungry? GREAT has to mean great for everyone or it means nothing at all. We can argue about how to do that, but if you don’t agree that no one should go hungry, you’re just wrong

This is why it's important to vote. Nobody in America should EVER go hungry, especially little kids. This is a choice & it's wrong 🚫🍐🤬 🔴 Millions of U.S. children could lose free school meals this fall due to SNAP changes, experts say www.cbsnews.com/news/free-sc... #PoorPeoplesCampaign #Poverty

In the meantime, while we sort out the people who don’t get it, support your local food bank if you can. There are people, especially children, going hungry over the summer. We have to fight stupid and evil with kind and generous

On the way to play in a session in Westport, Co. Mayo, I looked up and saw a rainbow. I undertook this entire musical journey to help heal from losing my wife of 36 years to cancer last year. We’ve always said rainbows were one of our loved ones letting us know they’re still here with us somehow.

That night I sang “When A Man’s In Love,” in the session, which I had sung to her on one of our early dates 39 years ago. I’d like to think she was there to hear me sing it for her again. ❤️‍🩹

The whole experience with Dulahan Ireland was incredible. Lovely, gracious, talented people. Such a valuable tuition and session experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique adventure with Irish traditional music!!

Another great session last week as part of my Irish trad music immersion experience with Dulahan Ireland. This one was at Hoban’s in Westport, Co. Mayo and had songs, stories, dancing, and of course, loads of tunes! I even sang a song! Great craic!

“Be kind to all those you meet, never knowing who may be carrying a heavy and difficult burden.” This was a benediction I heard a minister give at the end of a service once 40 years ago and it has stuck with me since. Be kind. It costs you nothing and gives so much to others

I just got back from Ireland. In less than 24 hours, I’ve had a spam text, a scam text, and a spoofed email. None of this happened when I was in Ireland. Things don’t have to be as effed up as they are here

I’ve just returned from several days in Co. Mayo and Co. Sligo and can say firsthand that trad music is a wholesome driver of economic activity there for musicians, publicans, shopkeepers, and more. It’s beautiful to see!
