Ok, ok. It's on brand, so. 1) MechWarrior 2) Shadowrun 3) Rifts (one session, still counts!) 4) AD&D, 2e 5) Champions (HERO System; we used it for homebrew Time Cops) 1 and 2 might be reversed, I'm not sure. And I made characters for AD&D long before I ever got to play it.

DesertHarper@desertharper.bsky.social

ok, I'll play this one. My 1st five ttrpgs in the order I played them: 1. D&D 2nd edition ("AD&D", high school) 2. Call of Cthulhu (high school) 3. Car Wars (1 game, high school) 4. Vampire the Masquerade (20s/30s) 5. Daggerheart (this year) (not including D&D 5e, it's like returning)

As a grad student, part of our training as TAs was a categorical ban on dating students - which was put in place after one of the grad students started dating a student. As a professor, I don't think anyone has formally told us not to, but it shouldn't be necessary.

This post is unavailable.

I mean, it clearly IS needed, some of my fellow professors (and I use the term "fellow" deliberately) have not been paying attention during the annual training on sexual harassment.

Good morning #IthacaFarmersMarket! This week, we are in booth 32! It's a delightfully clear day, and the trees are still keeping their colours up for the moment - there's been no real weather for a while. It's cold! And I'm on the water side of the market, so breezy.

So, 16 years ago, when I was a Home School Mommy (a non-gendered term in our group), I attended a Fire Safety presentation with my kiddo. The resultant notes of that event have become an annual repost on Facebook, but I've never shared them on Bluesky. So, happy Fire Safety Day, y'all.

The Zazzle link at the end is, I believe, still active! It's to a listing for a sticker with an arrow pointing down and the text is "You are here". Theoretically, you could put it on the back of your phone if you were unsure of where you were. Very useful!

I'm not quite halfway through this book, and goddamn it's good. Like, I'm tempted to get a pen and start making notes in the margins and underlining quotes. Probably the best book I've read this year.

I'm teaching the US Survey this semester (as always), and I'm teaching the "last third" of the survey - 20th and 21st Century. My syllabus needed to be approved, and the comment was "you've got too much at the end. I usually end this class in 1976." And that's the problem. There's too much.

Which means we need to teach the children better and do some kind of adult education going for the ones who weren't ~supposed~ to be left behind, I guess? Because that was a whole other thing going on at the time.

Several weeks ago, I entered the @rpg.net drawing for a nice set of dice. As a basically optimistic person, I enter lots of things, but as a realist, I rarely expect to win. This time, optimism won, and so did I! These arrived this morning:

Good morning #IthacaFarmersMarket! Today is clear and sunny, the leaves are showing off their autumnal best, and we've been promised that it will warm up over the course of the day! We're in booth 78 today, plenty of sun and we're out of the direct breeze. Cambodian food to my left!

Repost if $30k would change your life right now

Matt Darling@besttrousers.bsky.social

I don't think $30k is a life-changing amount of money. Median American born in 1980 will have $2m in income in their lifetime. It's a 1% increase in earnings.

Isn't this a Lake Woebegon bit? I'm pretty sure Garrison Keeler should be getting royalties for this particular speech.

Trump: "Do you know what bouf is? Expensive beef. They charge more money if you call if bouf ... the bouf costs a lot more."

It’s a little late, but here’s my submission for “Mysterium”! The prompt was creature comforts! 🍁🍂🍁 #mysterium

A Scaramucci is ten days (july 21-31). Zacharia was appointed on Oct 9 and lasted till October 16. So a Zacharia is seven days, or 7/10ths of a Scaramucci.

Just to note how stupid this system is...we just learned that 15 days ago, the Dept of Education awarded a brief contract to consulting firm Accenture to oversee sending emails to student debtors. It's a $350M contract. So it costs more to *service* the debt than to cancel it.

extending this to next weekend too. it's going to take some time for me to be out of debt.

I continue under emergency, so I'm opening 3 more portrait sketch commissions for *next weekend*. 50USD each, as the image says. you can schedule it with me directly or via Ko-fi or Patreon: www.patreon.com/tomeofsalvat... ko-fi.com/s/edbbafe083 #portrait #commission #commissionsopen #sketch

Morning crossing guard thoughts: what if, when Trump put his hand on that glowing sphere during his first term, he was catapulted into a _Its a Wonderful Life/Christmas Carol/Simpsons future view_ bit, and now we're all trapped in that bubble of experience until he realizes he needs to change?

If you want a bat for Halloween, might I suggest one of our hand made leather critters. No taxidermy, and our leather is a by-product of the beef industry, so no endangered species. Plus, they're posable, and can be used as a key ring or bag charm! In a variety of colors. FrostnEmberCreations.com

KikiDoodle & Purrmaids@kikidoodle.bsky.social

Hiya! Since it's almost Halloween, it's time for one of my "favorite" spooky season PSAs! Don't buy taxidermy bats! None of them are ethically sourced, most are endangered, and the market for taxidermy or freeze dried bats is descimating local populations. Etsy, ebay, curio shows, none are okay.

Good morning, #IthacaFarmersMarket! Today is cool and there's rain of one sort or another forecast all day. It doesn't seem to have kept people away, it's fairly busy here today! We're in booth 60, which is new for us. The critter display today is fricken' bats! We're across from the crepes. Yum!
