The internet runs on creators, and creators depend on their fans. But that relationship has always been locked inside platforms who didn't build it and don't deserve to own it. We're taking the first step in changing that with a new experiment: ATProtoFans 🧵

Our first-ever dev/ai/nyc event was one for the books! Here are some of our favorite snaps featuring @ma.tt, @borthwick.com, and NYC’s boldest tinkerers and brightest minds in applied AI. Here’s to the next one! 🎉

Mark your calendars for dev/ai/nyc, a new monthly AI-focused gathering in the big 🍎. On Wednesday, Nov. 5, we’re kicking things off with a fireside chat from @ma.tt and @borthwick.com. Plus drinks, light bites, and great conversation.

Congratulations to Ari, Conrad + team. @betaworks.com was fortunate work with them again ~ they are GOAT's at crafting cross OS experiences As @viticci.macstories.net says this is an experience that "floats" on your desktop helps you think, create and get things done. Have been using and liking!

Sky, the most exciting app I tried in a long time from the original creators of Shortcuts has been acquired… …by OpenAI. What a miss for Apple here. This will be so interesting to watch. www.macstories.net/news/sky-acq...

If you want to understand why the ATmosphere is going to be the movement to watch, read this thread. Standout line: "Every integration confers squared benefits to the ecosystem"

@danabra.mov has been on a bit of a tear with a really good mantra: "we can just do things". It feels like there's something in the air as of late, too - tooling, community, and network effects feel like they're finally hitting an inflection point in ATProto. Can we get at it with data? 🧵

You can just do things

If you're a custom feed creator, you can now enable "show more" and "show less" buttons in your feeds. This gives people using your feed a simple way to tell you what they love — and what they want less of.

Looking forward to this conversation with Karen, ps: that picture of me ain't real, but what is today? Assume we will touch on that and other topics

Chad Kohalyk@chadkoh.com

Really wish I was back in NYC next month at @betaworks.com so I could go over to @thegraduatecenter.bsky.social and listen to @borthwick.com interview @karenhao.bsky.social about her very excellent book EMPIRE OF AI. Glad it is hybrid so I will see you all online! www.gc.cuny.edu/events/empir...

Heard @karenhao.bsky.social on hiddenforces.io -- looking forward to reading the book

Sam Altman isn't keen on you reading my book. EMPIRE OF AI is based on 300+ interviews, 7 yrs covering AI, and my time as the first reporter who got extensive access to OpenAI. I sought OpenAI's perspective throughout. For months they said it was coming. It never did. Pre-order here: empireofai.com.

Meta's trying to suppress Sarah Wynn-Williams book because it exposes what an amoral man child Mark Zuckerberg is and how Facebook "doesn't give a fuck" about people. Sarah, who is a friend, knows what she's talking about. She worked at Meta for years. Buy her book! www.amazon.com/Careless-Peo...

Musk at CPAC ... "freedom is priceless" 5 mins later talking about Ukraine says "what are they dying for, what exactly are they dying for?" Do words not matter to him? I think not. I think what he is saying is that in his world order freedom isn't worth it for Ukraine

This past week opened an opportunity for Europe to reshape itself. Discussions between Russia and the US wont end in a peace agreement -- rather a ceasefire. It will take a while and will get signed by Putin and Trump in Riyadh, with maximum theater and minimal commitments --May 8th, is my bet

With a ceasefire in place and everything else up in the air Europe should prepare to rebuild Ukraine, bring it into the market. Put troops on the new border. And take control of its destiny. Alternatively it can let the oligarchs carve it up. And wait for Putin to resume the war.

Trying Granola iOS beta. Used it at a large dinner this week and then at an event with 20 or so people. Summaries useful but what was killer was the ability to ask questions.. ABG: Always be Granola'ing.

Dick Parsons, was a giant of a man. First person I met with a true photographic memory -- always believed there is a way to get people to talk to one another & figure things out. Asked him why was he the right person to run Time Warner said "cause, Im tall". RIP. readwise.io/reader/share...

Lol -- Wish I could write like Josh: "Trump has sewn himself into a sack ... a cat and a snake ... tossed into the Tiber. That's the story" Was wondering where JD was?

Josh Marshall@joshtpm.bsky.social

Maybe Trump can be appealed to to respect the norm that the president isn’t supposed to act like an unpaid outside advisors bitch.

Opening of Luna Luna -- the Amusement Park designed by Artists back in 1987, lost and shelved for almost 40 years just opened in New York. Haring, Basquiat, Lichtenstein .. Hockney. At the Shed. It's fun, worth the visit

You are up to date.
