I just submitted my design for flag and matching seal to The State Emblems Redesign Commission. I'm appreciating the thoughtful process on this quick timeline. Especially the part that incorporates revisions! #newMNflag

Borealis thoughts after 2 rides from STP to CHI and 1 CHI to STP Pros: - Train is clean, seats are large with lots of foot room, more comfortable than a plane. - Food is edible and reasonably priced. - Cheaper than flying - Can show up 20-30min before departure

10:59 Passengers on the Borealis display a determined patience in boarding. Skies are clear. Crew is well rested from shore leave. Home awaits. Look forward to returning to the families side. It's been a long two days. Onwards.

Borealis idea 1: - Can it depart between 7am and 9am so that it arrives late afternoon and doesn't feel like it takes the entire day to ride? Imagine arriving in Chicago at 4, in time to get to the game, concert, or conference and vise-versa.

Borealis Cons: - Feels an hour too long. Its not obviously faster than driving, - Not cheaper if traveling as family - Only one midday train departure - If the train stops when not at a station and the conductor doesn't say anything as the train is slowing, you are delayed an hour.

6:55 Rejoice weary travelers! Through Divine Providence and good fortune we hath arrived in the Most Sainted of All Ports named Paul, without any delay! Time to disembark to the embrace of friendship, solidarity, and the warmth of home. The sun has set. Partly Cloudy. End of log.

Its a little cruel from the NBA schedulers to have the Wolves play at both Florida teams in Oct and not in Jan/Feb.

5:55 No sightings of Peppi as we encounter some final stragglers in the penultimate port-of-call in the narrow straights of the Red Wing. The crew ascertains they are non-threatening and are allowed to board. The First Mate loses all credibility. Home Awaits. Onwards.

6:03 Final chastising of passenger carelessness by the crew. Do not dare to order provisions and rations without knowing what you want. Home Awaits! Onwards.

5:20 "Every eagle, pelican, swan, and duck on Pepin's water is soon to be Peppi the Lake Monsters prey", preaches the First Mate with much furvor to the crew. Unaware are the passengers aboard the Borealis, eager to reach home. Home awaits. Onwards.

4:15 Forgive me, it has been some time since my last entry. The quill and the ink escaped me in the aimless Driftless Area. We proceed with fortitude and renewed resolved, a bit weary, but with the relief of surviving the Middle Passage. We shall LaCrosse the Mighty waters. Home awaits. Onwards.

4:47 Home closes in as we near the muddied waters of Lake Pepin. Murmurings of the Pepin Fish Monster abound amongst crew, chiefly by the superstitious First Mate. I pray tis only a myth. Regardless I will pay close attention to her majestic shores. Home awaits. Onwards.

2:50 Completed a lap of the vessel to discover bored, idyling passengers longing for amusement. We say goodbye to dozens of passengers too weak to continue, lost to the allure of the The Dells. Alas, the First Mate is oblivious and in deep slumber. Home Awaits. Onwards.

3:35 A full dossier of passengers has led me to secure my secret sack of emergency rations. I do apologize for cutting this entry short as my First Mate forgot theirs. Do I hide or do I share? Home Awaits. Onwards.

1:01 We are reminded by The Most High, Temperance is a Godly virtue, as the Borealis winds arounds scores of lost men with hands on their caps as they imbue the Devil's juice. The first mate fears for the womenfolk. Home awaits. Onwards.

1:54 Prithe these Provisions sustain the body and soul. May scurvy be cast away along with the Devil's temptation of rum. The first mate was served something most moist, warm and malodorous. I must ponder, if indeed, thine choice of provisions was ordained. Home awaits. Onwards.

12:12 With signs of civilization far behind, we begin our journey through the crazed hinterlands of churned bovine gold as the Borealis' arrival in Sturtevant. Passengers face the prospect of the middle passage with a fervent hope for continued expediency. Home awaits. Onwards.

12:47 Surrounded by dense fog as the Borealis arrives in the industrial wasteland of The Port of Mil-Wau-kee. Is the fog an omen for the remainder of the journey? I perish the thought. A swift departure from this place will ease this passengers nerves. Home awaits? Onwards.

11:38 Confusion abounds in the cars as crew is uncertain as to the location of the rations. Cook insists the rations are available, but alas water can only be provided at a lonely temperature. Panic murmurs, but abated by prospect of favorable winds and early arrival. Home awaits. Onwards.

I really love that the Rebel Loon is seen EVERYWHERE in the Twin Cities. Keep wearing it with so much pride. I also wanted to try a version that is a little more faithful to the original Star Wars Rebel logo. I've been meaning to try this. I'm late to the party. So here it is.

Attn Minnesota United fans: An article in which soccer nerds present a lot of data arguing that playing soccer through the North American summer is worse than playing soccer through the winter, contradicting a lot of fans. Summer is worse for players Summer is worse for the quality of the game

American Soccer Analysis@americansocceranalysis.com

Been a lot of chatter about how the upcoming MLS schedule change is going to affect play on the field. @kierdoyle.bsky.social decided to look exactly how. www.americansocceranalysis.com/home/2026/10...

I hope MNUFC approaches Jesse Marsch while he's in town and just finds out his price for the CSO/Coach role. Doubtful anything would happen, Marsch seems to be enjoying the Canada gig, but you at least got to find out. Yea?

Hot take: Bars, theaters, and stadiums should sell high quality coffee and tea, especially since coffee shops close early. I'm a tea drinker, I prefer it iced and brewed. It's not good out of the soda fountain or bottle. Decaf is nice at night. Would 10/10 overpay.

Eastbound B Line bus is becoming really unreliable. Like 20-25min between busses. Westbound starting in STP, on time, every 10-15min.

I never noticed the Bathrobe Lady that February morning. A friend recently asked me, with State Fair Crop Art on his mind, if I had a photo of the photographer taking the photo. It turns out I was taking a video at the exact moment the iconic photo was taken by @leilanavidi.bsky.social 1/3

Everyone had a camera, but Navidi got a shot that has endured and so clearly tells the story of those of us that stood outside in winter to protect our neighbors and document ICE at scenes like this all around the Metro. 2/3

Professionalism matters, even in an age when everyone has access to all the tools, maybe its especially true now with AI slop everywhere. Journalists are brave, they are necessary. @samstroozas.bsky.social demonstrated this as well. Its a fantastic, enduring photo worthy of a Pulitzer. 3/3

Since I keep getting texts from Klobochar about supporting the "Protect College Sports Act" I offer the following HOT TAKE: College sports and universities should get a divorce. Get Pro Sports out of learning institutions. Student run club activities only.... Release education from the burden.

So a partnership between sports club and university sounds much better. No more need for the highest paid state employee to be the dictator, err, 'ole ball coach.

Since I keep getting texts from Klobochar about supporting the "Protect College Sports Act" I offer the following HOT TAKE: College sports and universities should get a divorce. Get Pro Sports out of learning institutions. Student run club activities only.... Release education from the burden.

When I was in college, I helped to start my college's Club Rugby team. We hired our coach, scheduled our own matches, raised our own money. This is better for learning.

The Pro Sports can still exist, they get the facilities. But can create their own "Clubs" with non-profit boards. Pay players, fundraise. Become the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th tier of pro sports.

SPOILER! I have Silo S3 thoughts and I'm afraid of spoiling. Sorry. Last 2 episodes it became clear the show is underground Star Wars. Boring prequel featuring a romance with an unconvincing male lead. There's a Death Star. A Ragtag group of Rebels led by a Leia-type. (Relation above s4)

I could extend the comparison, but alas, non-spoilers. Though the prequel arc almost lost me, it started rough, had worse acting. Stick with it.

Even hotter take: ban personal vehicle parking on the fairgrounds during the Fair, use current parking space to build a giant building for crop art and expand bike parking. I might go then. Ha! bsky.app/profile/john...

Brandon Hundt@brandonhundt.com

Hot take: Crop Art has outgrown the State Fair. The MIA, Walker, or MNHS should be lining up to host a 6-8 week crop art exhibit. Or it becomes MNs best roadside attraction, ala the Corn Palace.

I have a huge favor to ask, can you all help me start a company named The blipblorpX Group? I plan to use my accumen to change the world through synergy. TBH, I just want to buy ALL the sports teams and sell them two years later when we IPO and/or face a Federal audit. Great, thanks.

Saw two Waymos on West River Parkway in MPLS while on my bike ride into work this morning Sigh. "Drivers" in the front seat wearing hi-res vests. When I first saw it, I thought it was the Google Maps car.
