Used to run around the house with a plastic cup on my hand, pretending to be Mega Man. And then they made a second, even better one!

When yall were kids (think like.. age 4-12) what was the coolest character design you had ever seen that was super formative?

In high school, when Mmmbop was all over the radio and TV, I would pretend they were saying “Doombot.” That’s all I have for this story

So much early VGM traces back to jazz, prog rock, or Abba

you probably never stopped to consider that some ABBA instrumentals work perfectly as a Castlevania soundtrack.

Film you've watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Star Trek, Star Wars, LOTR, Marvel, Disney, or Ghibli. (I think transformers might betray the spirit of this game, but the 86 movie is a flawless masterpiece so who cares)

Been recording game music directly from the game onto cassettes and CDs since the NES days, did a game music podcast for nine years, and let me say for the 100th time that Ys VIII Sunshine Coastline is one of the true all time goated tracks. Just untouchable

What is the line for a Glup Shitto? I feel like the ESB bounty hunters are a good starting point: Boba Fett - not a Shitto IG-88 - would argue its stock has risen over time, not a Shitto Zuckuss - that’s a Shitto Dengar - that’s a Shitto Or do you have to be even more obscure?

Hard to express how impossibly cool Double Dragon was in the 80s. Title screen music on NES rewrote my DNA, led to a lifetime of VGM love. River City Ransom was like a mini GTA, felt like such a huge world with so many systems and things to explore. Foundational work. RIP and way too young!

Yoshihisa Kishimoto, creator of the legendary Kunio-kun and Double Dragon series, passed away on April 2. Initially reported on Twitter, the news has since been confirmed by Famitsu magazine. He was 64. www.famitsu.com/article/2026...

Yelped out loud. The music -alone- is an instant buy.

Doomsday hype has me finally rewatching MCU films (despite being a Marvel dorkass since the 80s, I just don’t rewatch movies much). I’m only four in so far and the biggest surprise that I can barely type is that I think I like Iron Man 2 more than the first one …

Found the old Toys R Us I worked at from 99-04 in MS Flight Sim. 1 - can’t believe the logo is so clearly visible! But it obvi hasn’t been a TRU for about 10 years 2 - the silent hill low poly aesthetic is really selling the lich state of this building IRL lol

MK remains my favorite video game movie to date. Knowingly cheesy when it wants to be with solid choreography, amazing sets, great cast, and formative 90s soundtrack. It’s not perfect but it is FUN No small part of its excellence is thanks to Cary’s intensity. RIP!

Finished Clair Obscur, what a game. Third act is something else, resolution of the story truly thought provoking, complicated, memorable. It’s in the same league as FFX for me, battle system maybe even more so

Really love that, despite how old it is and how seemingly absent it is from the modern world, Weekend At Bernie’s remains the most popular (only?) reference for propping up a dead thing/idea/concept and just hoping no one notices. Profound cultural impact

My first GameFAQs login was December 96, became a daily stop and default homepage for at least 20 years 🫡

Hey, happy 30th birthday GameFAQs! Launched on November 5th, 1995! The earliest scrape I can find on Wayback is December 1996, but I doubt the site changed much. But yes, here it is in its earliest days as the Video Game FAQ Archive!

80s movies, comics, toys really leaned into gross-out monsters / creatures, to the point where this shows up in your mailbox and barely registers. We’re out here watching Predator and Robocop and The Gate, our toys are covered in slime

Nintendo Power's September/October '88 issue featured Konami's Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, an action RPG for the NES The controversial and creepy cover has an armored Simon Belmont holding the decapitated head of Dracula; a nod to the game's quest to recover the vampire's dismembered body parts!

Heckuva day 30 years ago on 9/9/95: -Saw Mortal Kombat for the 4th time, still one of the greats, formative soundtrack -Original PlayStation launch day, traded in $400 of stuff -all with receipts because I was a weirdo- and Babbages had to give me the console and two games for free
