Broadcasters asked earlier whether he could introduce freedom of movement without a referendum, and Andy Burnham said "no". But sources told the BBC that no decision has been made, and the PM's deputy spokesperson later said the government would not "get ahead" of how it consults the public.

The loss of freedom of movement due to Brexit affects far more than just people. Losing the four freedoms- goods, people, capital, and services has wide-ranging consequences.

If you, your spouse, or your family has been affected by any of the issues below because of Brexit, and you now have a family/partner with mixed family statuses, we would like to hear from you to gather case studies. If you have a story or would like to take part, please message us here first.

1. 🧵 Thread: One of the biggest myths about Freedom of Movement is that it is uncontrolled immigration. It isn’t. EU law gives people the freedom to move to another EU country, but it also sets out the circumstances in which they have a right to remain.

FoM denied means normal family life is denied

Bremain in Spain@bremaininspain.com

Yes, most of the public have no idea how far-reaching the loss of FoM is for British nationals. It's more than not being able to work, marry, live, retire, or study in another EU nation. It deeply affects UK workers, artists, musicians, business people, and, of course, the free movement of goods

It's great to see Andy Burnham and others willing to open up an honest and factual debate on freedom of movement. For far too long, the right has dominated this conversation with fear and misinformation.

Typical Kuessenberg, she obviously forgets there's the 3 month rule, and most EU citizens coming to UK come to work

Laura Kuessenberg promoting her morning programme on BBC News attacks Andy Burnham's comments on renewing relationships with EU stating this will mean 'unlimited immigration going backwards and forwards.' How does she get away with that?

We were all EU citizens; now many have mixed family status, and this is keeping and, in some cases, tearing families apart. The 90/180 day EU limit for non EU, and minimum income requirements in UK for spousal visas being a huge issue
