“I'm not sure we've processed the trauma of the pandemic as a society; the ripple effect of the terror and paranoia that we all felt the first few months; how frightened we were for our loved ones. I don't think we have reckoned with it at all. People just don't want to talk about it - or hear it.”

this was the (very short) bit I think Imogen is referring to.
I know @cvcev.bsky.social have been tirelessly raising this issue, but so many people still have too little understanding that there many people who don't have robust immune responses to Covid and need to stay very cautious.
A nuanced and thoughtful conversation about care homes during Covid. As they were wrapping up the discussion there was a short chat about those whose immune system don't work, and so still live with Covid in a way. I haven't felt so seen in years.

💯The case for democracy is not that voters are always right, or wise, or good. It's that they can correct their mistakes.
That's why it's so dangerous to have billionaires controlling the media or regulating the flow of information. It shuts down the immune system of democracy.
I was having conversations with journalists just a few months ago about whether democracy was doomed. Look at this year: Orban defeated. Vukic defeated. Bolsonaro Jr defeated. Trump heading to likely defeat in midterms. That’s the beauty of democracy. Voters can respond. Don’t count it out yet.
Incredible. Student List are candidates selected by groups of students to form an anti-corruption party.
Another youth-led movement overthrowing an authoritarian government in Europe.
Serbia: The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS-EPP) has admitted defeat in today's parliamentary elections. The Student List (SL-*) has won a majority of votes.

First Orban, now Vučić. Both fundamentally undone by rank corruption of their regimes.
Which is so often the reality of the authoritarian right in power.
Really worth paying heed to in Western Europe right now
Last year I was privileged to join Serbian students calling for change @bmj.com

👀 #covidinquiry report clear that Hancock lied in May 2020 when he said he’d thrown ‘a protective ring’ around the care sector.
His actions & inactions led to thousands of avoidable deaths, including my mum’s.

Following the Covid Inquiry's damning verdict on Matt Hancock we've launched a petition to remove him from the Privy Council.
His actions led to thousands of avoidable deaths.
