So begins the annual tradition of rereading Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet throughout February. Just one poem a day. The poems stay the same, but you never do #booksky

Hey @altmetric.com, I've seen you post a lot about the research discourse happening on Bluesky versus X / Twitter, but are there any stats about research happening on Bluesky vs LinkedIn? It seems that, at least in my field of cancer genetics, most people went over to LinkedIn 😞

Is anyone in #oncology using "precision cancer medicine" over "precision oncology"? We've used both interchangeably for a long time but, according to Google Trends, it looks like "precision oncology" is the preferred term.

This is wonderful. I am amazed at how easy starter packs and feeds make it to find accounts of interest. Thank you @boston.gov and @bsky.app!

City of Boston@boston.gov

We've launched an official City of Boston starter pack to make it easy to follow City departments. This starter pack will stay up to date as more teams join the Bluesky community. Give them a follow!

Watched #Interstellar last night and it is 100% worth the IMAX experience. I did not remember that Timothée Chalamet grows up to be Casey Affleck though!

One topic that I've thought a lot about over the years is how to maintain a sense of progress in #science. Many delightful friends and colleagues have entertained my ramblings on this at one point or another. I previously referred to this as "how to guard against existential anxiety (in science)"

Visited the King Arthur Flour pop up on Newbury street in #Boston and learned about their climate blend, and commitment to sourcing 100% of their flour from regenerative farming grown wheat 🤩 They also have many cute ornaments.

On Sunday I finished a 16 month project of listening to all of the Jim Dale #HarryPotter audiobooks. One big road trip and otherwise at bedtime Yesterday, picked back up The Fellowship of the Ring narrated by Andy Serkis, and was yanked back from the cusp of sleep as Tom Bombadil began singing 🎵

My first ever batch of homemade bagels. I don't have a stand mixer, and will need to do more kneading next time. Sourdough-brain also decided to leave them in for an extra 3 minutes, resulting in an extra chewy exterior. Even without a stand mixer, homemade bagels are great.

I'm rereading The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran throughout February, one essay per day. It's free on Kindle if you would like to join along. So far it has been a wonderful way to start the day.

Even our longest relationships (e.g., children, parents). Yet I don't feel a renewed sense of... hunger? urgency? towards life. Instead I feel a desire to slow down, to pause, and say no to more things to really seep in experiences.

Following up on this to the void. There is a piece on children, and how "they come through you but not from you", and this is what I have found myself reflecting on most. It's left me feeling the weight of how ephemeral life, moments, and our interactions with others are.

You are up to date.
