I actually still remember her from state visit to Yogyakarta, Indonesia, in 2015. Since she is an artist with personal interests and skills in visual art, fashion, and textiles, she showed a great interest in local batik craftmanship. 📷: Johannes Jansson, Ulet Ifansasti/Getty Images

For #TolkienTrewsday theme of "bows", I present the Beautiful Bare-chested Brown Bard aiming his arrow at green Smaug from the 1979 cover of Indonesian The Hobbit, drawn by Setyo Sudhiarto. Translated by A. Adiwiyoto, it used "orang bajang" for Dwarves instead of "kurcaci" like in the new version.

🧙‍♂️ The Hobbit films evoke various reactions from fans, but for me the final song of the series, "The Last Goodbye" sung by Billy Boyd, is perfection - goodbye to the lost and friends who remain. www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8ir... #TolkienTrewsday 📆 Week 188 (29/09/26): “Journey’s end” #Tolkien

Putri Prihatini@putriprihatini.bsky.social

I Sit Beside the Fire and Think is my favorite poem by Tolkien about "journey's end". As the aging Bilbo sang it in Rivendell, he gave it a contemplative air; recalling past events in sorrow while anticipating returning loved ones. Love the use of seasons to mark passing times. #TolkienTrewsday
