Federal records show DOGE's role in initiating grant terminations across the National Science Foundation and indicate that the White House also flagged awards to cut. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rg9... Read more by @madialder.bsky.social: fedscoop.com/records-show...

Pro-Lula Brazilians doing en masse digital organizing against the platforms is interesting. Basically took website/influencer growth hacking techniques—eg everyone go like/comment/share this, get the algorithm to pick it up—and applied them to electoral politics at a grand scale. Thread:

I don't know that there is a template or a "secret sauce" or a clear-cut lesson to take from this. But if there is one it's the idea of treating social media as the hostile territory that it is, of actually acting like you are a participant in propaganda warfare and not like a consumer.

Transport issues in major capitals across Brazil right now, all major Lula-voting hubs, including the city of São Paulo. More arrest warrants for mayors across Brazil are currently being issued while the Labour Party tries to get voting times extended (polls are due to close in 95 minutes).

An arrest warrant has been issued against Salvador's secretary of transport, one of Brazil's largest Lula-voting hubs, for keeping dozens of buses off the streets today. Again: what’s happening in Brazil is criminal.

Something that's not being said. The REASON why Blanche and Bill Essayli are so defiantly violating the Constitution is bc John Roberts said they can't be prosecuted so long as they're following Trump's illegal orders. Blanche's criminality arises DIRECTLY out of Trump v. US.

Brian Marron reposted

Roberts *explicitly* stated that POTUS has immunity even for directing a “sham” prosecution or one with an improper purpose or motivation. He can also promise to pardon anyone who follows his orders. As AG says, what’s the downside, for anyone?

Allison Gill@muellershewrote.com

Why wouldn’t he admit it? The Supreme Court immunized this kind of stuff. It’s why Jack Smith had to take the Jeffrey Clark/DOJ/Trump conspiracy out of his Jan 6 indictment.

It’s almost like putting an insurrectionist back in office, where he immediately pardons his co-conspirators, was a terrible breach of the rule of law that should never have happened.

Brian Marron reposted

you cannot win the legal fight by attacking the pardons and you wouldn’t actually want that precedent anyway. you can only win by attacking the legitimacy of Trump.

The de facto officer doctrine won't save him because his legitimacy was notoriously in dispute = "no color."

Joshua Erlich@joshuaerlich.bsky.social

here, write it down so it’s easy to repeat: an illegitimate supreme court allowed an insurrectionist barred by the 14th amendment to take office and his pardons aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on

That'a a nice photo of Brenda Diaz's illegally placed sign that no responsible government agency has bothered to remove.

The time to determine whether Dan J. Sullivan Jr. could appear on the Alaska ballot for U.S. Senate was months ago, and Alaska courts did so. What's additionally batshit about this is that the candidates' names are printed on the ballot in a way which makes abundantly clear who's who.

Breaking news: The Justice Department has moved to preemptively block certification of the results of Alaska’s Senate race if Republican incumbent Sen. Dan S. Sullivan loses his tight race against Democrat Mary Peltola next month.

The fetishisation of "debate" as some sort of grand public good that everyone should do is so thoughtless and jarring to me because the more you actually do it the more it becomes apparent that genuinely constructive debate is actually a pretty niche thing.
