Completely agree. This rhetoric is disgusting and deeply hurtful as a female fan of the sport.

The problem isn’t that they’re moving past it—it’s that they’re trying to rehabilitate it. Would be better for everyone if people who don’t want to engage with the facts just talked about the play on the field and left it at that.

This absolutely sent me. And here I'd thought the Gospel of Tarantino was considered apocryphal at best.

All of the reactions this morning make me wonder if I've encased myself in a deeply anti-New England Patriots bubble (if so I'm not complaining, it's lovely here) because I wasn't surprised Belichik isn't a 1st ballot HoF coach. Not on the actual merits but because of his recent reputation.

He has spent the last few years losing football and making a spectacle of his personal life. That's what is prominent in everyone's minds. And the losing records are more damning here because they're making people reflect on his career a little differently and probably reassess the scandals.

Journalists owe subjects an opportunity to respond to a story; they don't owe them free use of their platform

Political and corporate spokespeople now regularly treat a request for comment from the mainstream media as an opportunity to drop a free ad into the middle of the story. Bad faith non-responses should just be discarded, with a note that they declined to respond to the substance of the question.

WH spokesperson Abigail Jackson said "60 Minutes should spend their time and energy amplifying the stories of Angel Parents, whose innocent American children have tragically been murdered by vicious illegal aliens that President Trump are removing from the country."

Spelling names correctly is the lowest bar of journalism. When I was in college, we lost a letter grade for each typo and failed the assignment if we had a typo in the headline or misspelled a name. Glad to see CBS News will have lower standards than the Appalachian State undergrad program.

welcome to the new era of CBS News, where brave truth-telling takes precedence over spelling Zohran Mamdani’s name correctly

I read this twice to really let the horror sink in. I can already feel how this is going to haunt me in the middle of the night on a recurring basis. Ugh.

one thing that is true for everyone reading this: unless something changes dramatically the number of people who agree with you on what basic facts constitute "reality" will shrink every year for the rest of your life

I'm watching the Steelers game against my will and my poor, sweet, well-meaning partner has no idea the mistake he's made. He seems to think this is good conversion therapy to turn me into a Packers fan but it is backfiring fantastically as I become radicalized against the league as a whole.

I'm not super studied on police reform but it feels like a low bar would be to make police departments liable for property damage and personal injuries that result from shoddy police work. It would certainly increase the incentive to investigate thoroughly before acting.

But if we abolish the police, who will come to your house when you're out, shoot your security cameras and your windows out, break your front & garage door door down damaging the foundation itself, trash all your shit, then say Oops wrong house lol, leaving you with the repair bill

This is absolutely baffling to me. The way Tesla has habitually lied and covered up crash data is WAY worse than the Cruise cover up that did irreparable harm to their reputation. How does none of this seem to stick to Tesla? Their sycophantic core audience defies any logic around brands and crises.

what's particularly fascinating about this story is that we're a decade in now, and airing out the coverup as the cherry on top of a long run of public reporting that proves Autopilot is the high tech scandal of the century... and the stock is up

Finally some good news out of the Steelers. The highest paid non-quarterback in history. Richly deserved for the man who's been carrying our team. And given my lack of expectations for our offense this season...he seems primed to continue carrying that weight. About time we paid talent appropriately

This piece from @slate.com is haunting. A look into one of the towns involved in ICE detainment and how the community, and the system, got this way. The haunting part is that this is one example of many. It takes a degree of complicity that I think we'd all like to pretend isn't likely...and yet.

Fun that they dusted off Kenny Pickett's old jersey for him. Gag. If you need me this football season, I'll be taking up crocheting or any other hobby away from my TV.

Despite Republicans’ general objection to income taxes, GOP senators unanimously voted for the 16th Amendment in 1909. Why? Because the party’s staunchest anti-tax members were convinced the states would not ratify the amendment. They were wrong. By @jeisinger.bsky.social @propublica.org

I've never really cared one way or the other about The First 48, but based on this reporting there needs to be a deeper look at some other cases and it may need to be shut down. It also bears questioning the way we've been mixing crime and entertainment and the societal impacts.

Might as well make my first post on here about the Steelers. But dear lord, how DARE they make me hope we keep Russell Wilson. I cannot be expected to deal with the current hellscape AND to cheer for Aaron Rodgers. That's a bridge too far.

You are up to date.
