We just lost a major YouTube channel that contained a ton of archived Satellaview footage and many many many other japanese tv shows

I finished reorganizing my wall of Famicom cartridges, boxes, and other related items. There are now 6 rows of 60-pin cartridges organized by color cause it looks cool on the big shelf.

I have a webpage that specifically catalogs how many games are released for Nintendo Classics - Nintendo Switch Online and a few days ago I got around to updating it thinking the next update would be a while... welp. I went ahead and updated it again, thanks Nintendo. nc-nso.neocities.org

Now that we're back online I would like to announce we have a new affiliate, @gamingalexandria.bsky.social! GA is a community of game preservationists, the website features preserved data and high resolution scans. If you are interested in game preservation we highly suggest checking them out.

Lined up like this makes it look like a background for some modern retro game collection.

The ニンテンドー・エンターテインメント・システム turned 41 years old today and last month was 40 years since it was released nationwide in North America. Even though I never lived through this era of games, it did lead me down to the path I'm on today after the fact.

commenting to add to this, game cartridges are called that in english because consoles like the Atari 2600 and the Fairchild Channel F used removable storage that resembled the shape of 8-track cartridges, another audio format that was popular in the US in the 70s!

Now that I have a Playdate I can try out the Game Boy emulator for it fittingly called the Crank Boy. Because the Playdate lacks start and select buttons the crank can press those buttons with clockwise being start and counter-clockwise being select. A neat novelty for the hardware.

So I was actually planning on bringing this with me but as I was finishing packing one of the bolts broke loose. This is easily repairable but I don't want to risk this bag breaking on me so unfortunately it's getting left behind. Sorry for anyone anticipating seeing this in-person but alas...

I have box protectors that I put my boxed games in to protect them, though the Famicom ones I have only fit these specific sized ones but a good chunk of the library fits nicely in these. I don't need an arbitrary number on the top to validate my purchase cause I value these games for what they are.

Some last minute purchases before heading off to Oregon in a few days, not much so I have plenty to spend during my trip.

I bought a cassette case bag locally mainly so I can store Famicom cartridges on the go. Thinking about bringing this with me to PRGE this year.

Not only is this stupid, what SRC did is not allowed at all. Creative Common licenses are not revokable, and even if they shift away from it to do their stupid bidding, they are still required to say that older works are licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0. This is illegal to do.

I recently contributed a bunch of differences between Super Puyo Puyo and Kirby's Avalanche over on TCRF cause why the heck not. You don't see this type of heavy localization anymore but that might be for the best. Someone else is gonna have to do Mean Bean Machine though. tcrf.net/Kirby's_Aval...

So looks like Nintendo Museum is going to be selling a Famicom & NES book and I see myself going out of my way to getting a copy of it. Though unfortunately since I probably won't be in Japan in the near future I might have to pay scalper prices to import it...
