Last month I launched CatBar, a little utility that shows your @RevenueCat earnings in your menubar. I put loads of love into it. It failed miserably. 7 customers. Total.

Which is weird, because I thought it scratched an itch a lot of indie devs would share. It hit #7 on Product Hunt with 132 upvotes. And then nothing. No sales, barely any downloads. I genuinely don't know what I got wrong. I still think it's a good app. I use it daily.

I was wondering: "what if an LLM could do all the learning I do from inspirational youtube videos". So I made a skill for that: npx skills add TimBroddin/skills --skill youtube-research

I've been working on v2.0 of my simple text editor for iOS called TxtEdit. New features include tabs, line numbers & speed ๐Ÿ’จ. v1 was pure Swift/Storyboards. v2 will be a weird Frankenstein mix of Expo/RN for UI and Swift modules for the editor/file handling and it's really working extremely well.

Wat is er met Two Gallants gebeurd? Van om de vijf botten op een podium en festival, naar poef niks meer. Geen aankondiging, gewoon ergens tien jaar geleden opgegaan in rook in Las Crucias Jail.

"The internet allowed anyone to publish anything, and it was impossible to verify this new flood of information. We were taught to think critically and be cautious, since we never knew who created anything. Now we have a different problem: we are unsure what created anything." WORD.

I donโ€™t get all the hate @theverge.com is getting for asking money for a subscription. Theyโ€™ve been my favorite tech publication since day 1 - and $50/year seems like peanuts considering what theyโ€™re giving back.

Several year-long gaps in the commit history. Endless rewrites from JavaScript to TypeScript, from Redux to Redux-toolkit, from React Native to Expo.

It's strange to realize that many people working in web dev right now weren't around when, for example, Gmail revolutionized the use of AJAX. Me rambling about the web before that must feel to them like a 50-year-old ranting about the Apple II to me. Makes me feel ancient ๐Ÿ‘ด

But I'm also truly thankful to have watched the evolution of the world wide web from the (almost) very beginning. It was, and will continue to be, quite the ride.

When I was a kid I imagined that bots were smart programs you could give a task and let loose on the World Wide Web. They would crawl the web and come back when finished. Almost 30 years later this was still science fiction. Until I tried AutoGPT ๐Ÿคฏ
