after years of hearing conservatives describe basic political equality as "mob rule," i am darkly amused that this country is being subjected to literal mob rule by deranged reactionaries

Unfortunately, the MAGA folks are going to have to learn the hard way that we all got hosed... But then again, they'll just blame this on trans folks, or immigrants, or BIPOC. 🤦

Jon Cooper@joncooper-us.bsky.social

Trump in August: "From the day I take the oath of office, we’ll rapidly drive prices down, and make America affordable again. Prices will come down. You just watch. They’ll come down and they’ll come down fast." Trump now: “It's hard to bring things down once they're up. You know, it's very hard."

I LOL'd

I want to clarify something for legal purposes. I don’t in fact know if Stephen Miller is a vampire or not. He looks, acts, and talks like one but I don’t in fact know if he drinks blood or will die in direct sunlight. It’s just my opinion that he’s a blood sucking monster.

These people are vile. As a Veteran, I will die mad at Jan 6th and the lack of accountability. People who condone this shit aren't patriots, they are seditionists. Period.

Russell Taylor spent weeks planning for the Jan. 6 chaos in 2021. He recruited others to join him in DC and, when he arrived, rioted at the Capitol with a knife and tactical vest. Republicans invited him back to the Capitol to attend Trump’s second inauguration. www.politico.com/news/2024/12...

I FEEL THIS IN MY SOUL.

It's been years since I really articulated my own political leanings, and that's because all the big ideas and theory of political systems kind of get smothered under a broader, holistic philosophical lens of "I would have really, deeply, strongly preferred not to have been born"

Food for thought concerning "celebrating" a CEO being assassinated: When Heath Insurance Companies celebrate record profits - which they attain through delaying or denying care - it's the same thing. Delaying and denying claims literally kills people in the name of profit.

I tried to keep telling my fellow vets...

George Takei@georgetakei.bsky.social

When they talk about privatizing Veterans’ care and Medicare, they mean allowing companies to provide healthcare for a profit. But how do companies make those profits? By *denying* care to many who need it. Don’t get fooled by the “privatization” label. It means “for profit” and YOU are the cost.

in hindsight the NYT anti-trans crusade is one of the most despicable things that any big time journalism outfit in this country has ever done. a perfect and clearly intentional layup for the fascists on the Supreme Court

I'm still adjusting to the fact that folks will actually talk to you on this platform. Like, actually connecting with folks... Not people selling you shit all the time. Not people trolling for no reason. It's weird... And I can't believe the shit that happens on X has been normalized.

Just sitting here thinking about all those paycheck to paycheck folks who elected a billionaire who put other billionaires in charge of taking shit away from paycheck to paycheck folks, so they can make more billions.

A lot of the trolling problem from the right stems from the anonymity and distance that the internet creates. In-person interaction carries with it the non-zero chance that someone will punch you in the face for being an asshole... And that alone would make these idiots civil in many cases.

Anti-trans bullies saying self-identification is an artificial construct that deserves no recognition: People have been self-identifying as various religions (and denominations within religions) for ages. And such self-identification is taken seriously. Indeed, there have been wars fought over it.

SAAAAAAAAME!

Unpopular opinion, but I actively dislike DLC. When I finish a game, I’m done with it. Adding DLC months later when I no longer remember how to play the game properly is wasteful for me. I’d rather studios just work on their next game rather than add DLC.

You are up to date.
