btw the "pretend a right-wing activist is just a Concerned Citizen" is the go-to move for crypto-reactionary NYT people. Jeremy Peters did this for a militia member at Charlottesville, I pointed the error out to him on Twitter and he blocked me theracket.news/p/how-the-ne...
Repeatedly, because conservative white men keep hiring and promoting mediocre "affirmative action" legacy hires: "Six - SIX! - “lifelong Democrats” and “former Obama” are actually elected Republicans" "New York Times' ongoing "undecided young voters" focus group works at a Republican consulting
NYT editors pushing their supposedly "common sense" narrative through "undecided voters" who turned out to be actual Republican operatives but the NYT either didn't do a basic Google search check of them or purposely used them to push a narrative they wanted about Democrats
Late to this, but excellent work (& timely, see Peters’ DSA article www.nytimes.com/2026/08/22/n... )
"Hindsight" simply means you didn't listen to the trans people and allies who've been telling you exactly this for a few years now. Or if not that, perhaps the fact that The Onion has had an evergreen for it since before current management took over?
It Is Journalism’s Sacred Duty To Endanger The Lives Of As Many Trans People As Possible

One the victims of Rosenthal's homophobia, the great reporter and editor and technology maven Rich Meislin, was one of my first bosses at the NYT, and he remained a close friend. www.nytimes.com/2021/06/25/b...
