If you build it 🌽 ... The MLB at Field of Dreams game returns to Dyersville, Iowa tonight!

Amazing to be here to celebrate the 250th year of the greatest political experiment ever. Sic Semper Tyrannus. May we as informed citizens resist the temptation of a new monarchy and oligarchy and live the principles in which this great nation was founded.

If hell is a place where James Talarico is going, I’ll meet him there

Team Talarico@teamtalaricohq.bsky.social

Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick says James Talarico is “going to Hell”: “I’ve never seen so much blasphemy from anyone running for office… He’s going to Hell, for sure.”

So, I was working with a prospective client the other day. Asking him some questions about their dreams and AI. Yeah, this one guy wrote our data warehouse and does all our gatekeeping and all of our data engineering. One guy, huh. (Security guy in me screams)

be proud of yourself. be proud of who you are. be proud of what you've done. when you truly feel that it will outweigh any validation anyone else could provide.

And I am agreeing once more with ... Joe Rogan?! 😳 bsky.app/profile/ofth...

Home of the Brave@ofthebraveusa.bsky.social

Rogan: "You don't want militarized people in the streets just roaming around, snatching up people — many of which turn out to be U.S. citizens that just don't have their papers on them. Are we really gonna be the Gestapo, 'Where's your papers?' Is that what we've come to?"

If they nuke the filibuster, Democrats should start the "We can have Universal Healthcare, Billionaire taxes, and Free Childcare" in 2028 as a political ad campaign.

Sahil Kapur@sahilkapur.bsky.social

White House budget director Russ Vought joins the calls for Senate Republicans to nuke the filibuster. Vought has argued that the government funding process should be less bipartisan; this would achieve that. But: Republicans still don’t have the votes.

Been reading about the rise of Nazism. So many entities - businesses, right-wing parties, trade unions - struck deals with Hitler after he became chancellor, where he promised to preserve elements of the old system. Then months later he invariably broke them and jailed or killed those people.

Why couldn’t a school kid object to evolution? Could they object to history teaching them about the crusades? What about them objecting to math? 1+1=2 is impeding on my religion of binary math? What’s to prevent a school kid in saying all education is against my religion and “opt out” of school?

ACLU@aclu.org

BREAKING: The Supreme Court ruled public schools must allow opt-outs from any lesson parents believe will interfere with their child's religious development, including LGBTQ-themed materials. This will make it difficult for public schools to teach lessons that may trigger religious objections.

What’s to prevent a student from opting out of literally everything?

David S. Cohen@dsc250.bsky.social

So, liberal parents who can ground their beliefs in religion (many do) can opt out of: - abstinence only education - Baby Olivia videos - reading Ayn Rand - any class that talks about Donald Trump or this Supreme Court This is going to be fun. (And by "fun" I mean "utter and complete nonsense").

I just read an article on how to do cybersecurity from scratch, which has all sorts of recommendations like "build a team" and "act on high risk issues immediately". Dude. You're assuming they have a budget...

Had a call today with a vendor. We brought up their slow response to all of our support requests and lack of features on their email security product which they promised to address. At the end of the call, "you should consider our cadre of many other products!"

Terrifying. "Autocracy scholar Balint Magyar has said, “liberal democracy offers moral constraints without problem-solving,” while “populism offers problem-solving without moral constraints.” Only one of those offerings has mass appeal in the 21st century, and it ain’t the one you want it to be."

This might be the dumbest thing I've ever watched in a Major League baseball game.

Umpire called Jose Miranda safe, saying the fielder didn't touch the base to get the forceout. But then Miranda just walked away and got tagged out anyway.
