Ah, the election. That time when leftists have to choose between a candidate who is openly hostile to everything they believe in and another who sometimes words things in a way that's not ideal. So hard to choose!

It's wild, but maybe not unexpected, that I'm seeing online leftists blame "establishment Dems" or the DNC for Graham Planter's troubles. The odd argument goes something like: if they hadn't have opposed him so hard, we wouldn't have liked him so much.

Just one example. Also many of them in implying that Israel is behind this. As if Graham didn't do these terrible things on his own.

The Lincoln Memorial reflecting pond is such a great metaphor for Trump's legacy: he's spending so much of our money to maintain the swamp.

I interviewed for law firm jobs in Salt Lake City when I was at Duke and people actually pulled the "you're not really from Salt Lake, why do you want to come here?" on me. (I grew up in Logan, Utah.)

What is the least culturally powerful city where people do the "you're not a real [local]" thing, because New York is very very far from the only one

People in that thread are saying Dallas, but that was the opposite of my experience. When I interviewed in Dallas, the response every time was, "You're not from Texas? That's okay! Let me tell you why you should live here!" Maybe it's changed in the last 30 years, but I don't think so.

I captured a photo of today's Merlin Bird of the Day just over a year ago, when it made a nest in the Whataburger bird house my daughter gave me.

I finally saw a painted bunting in the wild today. Two of them even! Not to be sexist, but I do wish it was an adult male, instead of a female or immature male.

My social media is so schizophrenic about Graham Platner. My TikTok algorithm is full of people who think he's the savior of the left and my Bluesky feed all thinks he's a Nazi and an abuser of women. I just hope the Democrats can take back the Senate.

I still remember visiting Disney World years ago. The ride operator: "ALRIGHT! How many of you are AEROSMITH FANS?!" The crowd waiting to ride. "..."

One of the things I enjoy about Bernie Sanders is how about 30% of the time his ideas are terrible, but he embraces them anyway.

BREAKING: Bernie Sanders will introduce a bill to have the public take a 50% ownership stake in the country's biggest AI companies. The American AI Sovereign Wealth Fund Act would have the government tax AI companies, take 50% of the stock, and put it under public control.

I'm teaching the fifth Sunday lesson on the founding of the United States. Wish me luck! The best way to get me to teach a lesson is to threaten the possibility of someone else teaching.

Trump calculated the damages from his returns being leaked by adding up the amount of income taxes his paid over the last 20 years, plus $10 billion.

The president is negotiating against his own administration to shake down taxpayers for $10 billion. The corruption meter is flashing red and sounding the alarm. ca.news.yahoo.com/doj-consider...

White House says Trump will go to Walter Reed for his “annual dental and medical evaluations” on May 26

At our Mother's Day gathering, my daughter told a perfectly crafted joke. A man explaining gender fluidity: "Okay, imagine a man and a woman had a baby..."

In the family chat, my son just posted a mashup of Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (with a sprinkling of Flight of The Conchords). I couldn't be more proud. 🥲

Trump rants his ballroom will feature "Bomb Shelters, a State of the Art Hospital & Medical Facilities,Top Secret Military Installations, Protective Missile Resistant Steel, Drone Proof Ceilings, Military Grade Venting, & Bullet, Ballistic, & Blast Proof Glass" Dafuq kind of ballroom is this?

Were the Tony Gonzalez and the Eric Swalwell resignations coordinated and approved by party leadership? Don't get me wrong, both needed to resign, but weird that they happened basically simultaneously.
