Shutting down Starshield is bad and has led to innocent people getting killed. Still, the bigger problem is our Defense policy is led by a private actor who happens to be the world’s richest man with unfathomable brainrot.
Ukraine losing access to Starshield raises serious concerns for our national security—like who controls critical capabilities the U.S. government has spent billions to procure & how decisions to restrict them are made. I'm demanding answers from the Department of Defense & SpaceX
Huh. So that answers that question about whether he hates certain white people as much as he hates black people.
1. BREAKING via WSJ Elon Musk ordered the slowdown of a military-grade version of Starlink relied on by Ukraine, a decision that sparked panic in Kyiv and confusion inside the Trump administration.
Looks like this post picked up some BlueSky scent given the replies and reposts. Morena saw these things a mile away when the whole Gen Z protest movement happened. A sincere movement can get easily co-opted by right-wingers, but the reply freaks don’t seem to care. Because it doesn’t affect them.
I saw it coming from a mile away. The destructive Far Left are the handmaidens of the Far Right. It happened here in 2024. I happened in Latin America over the past year. And it’s happening now in France. The ends of the horseshoe are symbiotic.

100% — producing a highly-educated cohort of knowledge workers has overall been a disaster for conservatives and they are trying to reorient the American economy away from it bsky.app/profile/jame...
you should understand the MAGA drive to retool american industry to produce cheap consumer goods as part of the same project

Every single right-of-center Latin American politician should be seen with skepticism. Every single one who even played nice with MAGA should be tied with a cord of steel to him for all eternity.
She has obviously decided to tamper in US domestic politics on the side of the Republican Party despite being screwed over and sold out by Trump, and should be treated as a foreign Republican operative by Democrats moving forward.
Democrats should focus on broad pro-working class politics. NOT the politics of coddling organized labor. The extent that politics brings labor together, great. To the extent that they are not, treat them like any other interest group. They should be petitioning Democrats, not the other way around.
what the fuck is wrong with the teamsters man Roger Marshall is a ghoul who sued his own patients and threw them in prison!
These are really stupid people. A rate hike is absolutely *not* off the table if the FED feels that inflation is still too high. Which it will be with the continuing AI boom and the fact that the fat stupid orange man is still president. Save your money, the Republicans are in charge.
DUN DUN DUN -- Fox Business on the September jobs report: "The numbers do not look good. I'm looking at 29,000 jobs added. That is well below expectations for 90,000, and our unemployment rate jumps up to 4.2%. A significant slowdown."
One of the silver linings that have to come from this grave time is that we must build a new culture that truly values human life. It’s unfortunate that this level of barbarism happens for human beings to eventually learn to build a proper society
Nashville Banner reporter Steven Hale, describing how prison officials kept drawing the curtain to hide how badly they were botching this: “A lot of this execution — or attempted execution, whatever it was — happened when we could not see what was going on.”
During the tribunals for Reconstruction 2., anyone involved in this particular case should be brought up on obstruction of justice and accessory to murder charges
Breaking: The Texas Tribune has identified the ICE agent who witnesses say fired through an open van window and killed 52-year-old Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston nearly three months ago.
I repost because, yes, I do agree with the sentiment (hypocritical that Jeffries bad, Mamdani good for meeting with Trump). But it’s a lesson from the business world: building enough credibility and capital to be able to do “Nixon goes to China” things that others can’t do. There’s a lesson here.

Amazing that some people can act like total dorks and be super charming at the same time. Compare to a lot of “walking in front of camera” type of short form video that other robotic Democrats are trying. It just looks lame and weird. Still, kudos for everyone trying something.

The amount of firings and cancelled contracts that will result when we abolish ICE will probably result in a recession. Whatever it takes.
When Congress allocated $75 billion to ICE, it wasn’t like they was a carefully constructed assessment of the agency’s operational budgetary needs for the next four years. So the agency has piles of cash sitting around with which to buy as many shiny toys as they want.
We are learning a very hard lesson that any legal loophole for cruelty and abuse is a type of Chekhov’s Gun for any future and extremely evil administration.
Yep. It was an authority that Congress clearly intended to be used as a last resort in rare circumstances, not what the Trump admin is doing now. Congress absolutely needs to step in and rewrite the law.
The reason these freaks hate trans people in sports isn’t because they like women’s sports. It’s because they hate anything that threatens their strictly gendered world view and is a reflection of their own insecurity as men. That’s why they also hate women and gay people.
Much as I hate to give Kanter the time, nobody here will support him anyway. Sky players kept Tasha away from him
Also, it’s pretty obvious that as much as Texas Republicans are embracing their Latino hatred (this is Texas after all), they’re turning down the dial on said hatred and cranking the dial all the way on Muslim hatred (and slightly higher on Indian hate for the Groypers).
it’s pretty crazy how republicans sense they are losing and instead of trying to become less insane they’re instead choosing to double down on being massive pieces of shit

Funny that these ICE freaks always have thicker Speedy Gonzalez-ass accents than the roofers and nanny’s they’re arresting for the crime of being Latino. There’s something in the water down in Calexico.
This is absolutely WILD. Here's the dashboard video posted by @fritschner.bsky.social. Fast forward to about 1 minute. An ICE officer jumps out of a van and pulls a gun on this woman immediately before lying and claiming she "almost ran us over." *profanity warning if watching in public.
Centrism is more and more defined around what Nassim Taleb calls “the museum state” axis. Taleb uses it to describe society’s responses to immigration, but any politicians will be NIMBYs if they feel preserving local culture is more important than material well-being.
it is pretty remarkable how Daniel Lurie, despite his reputation as a moderate technocrat, keeps pushing NIMBY policies. quite a contrast to Zohran who has governed as an unabashed YIMBY
