UK subjects simply do not have a right to a private life in any meaningful sense because the state here reserves the right to decide for you whether you are being harmed by something you are participating in. This place is a shit hole which would not need to change a single law to go full fash.

I swear to God, we are eating tree leaves in Gaza. We are hungry & prices are exorbitant. We are homeless ,living on dirty sand & diseases have afflicted us. My mother suffers from asthma & my brother suffers from epilepsy. They need treatment. We beg you to donate to us chuffed.org/project/1844...

it was nice of them to let us know in spring when the decision of who is actually at risk wont be decided until January to April (?!) next year (????!!!!,,,) (while still telling is fuck all that entire time). really beds in the constant sense of demoralisation and dread

I guess a real human being and not whatever dregs in a skinsuit I currently am would use that vast ocean of time to look for another job but you see I am bin juice personified

well you see in spite of working like 2 seconds a week I feel like my brain is crammed to bursting and I can't think thoughts properly without 90% of my time being rest but on the other hand everything costs one million pounds. it's a conundrum

I didn't think it was possible for the pace and intensity of hearing things that make you feel your brain is boiling out your ears had much room to pick up but yeah no sure I stand corrected

I miss when people I otherwise like and respect and have good politics didn't just openly talk about weight loss and how much they don't want to resemble people like me just out in the open all of the time. that was a nice couple of years

nice to know they never actually stopped thinking we were an awful blight on the eyes of society they just thought they'd look like jerks for saying so in public and now apparently now they no longer think that it makes them look like jerks to anyone whose opinion matters?

Could you help us spread the word to as many trans arts freelancers as possible? We urgently need an industry response and roadmap following the anti-trans changes made by the EHRC - so grateful that @freelancersmake.bsky.social is working with me to make this happen - please, join us?

Freelancers Make Theatre Work@freelancersmake.bsky.social

We’re working with Dr CN Lester (@cnlester.bsky.social) to bring trans freelancers together for confidential, supportive conversations about the impact of the EHRC Code of Practice and what support is needed across the creative industries.

My cousin organized a series of masked concerts in NYC so immunocompromised and other covid-conscious folks can still enjoy live music events, and is raising funds so he can keep doing so! Love and appreciation to anyone able to chip in 🙏🏾♥️ www.kickstarter.com/projects/pos...

I think of this now with approximately the same level of thwarted exiled longing I have towards being an ex smoker bsky.app/profile/burn...

when I was growing up my dad would make you a cup of tea pretty much every hour all day long without asking and get annoyed if you didn't drink it. often in big mugs. this is how I learned to like cold tea. needless to say this annoyed me at the time but what I wouldnt give for a similar service now

Everyone remembers the photos of Patsy Stevenson at the Sarah Everard vigil. What no one is even considering is that this photo would now get her convicted of a s.157 offence (one month in prison) for wearing a mask under the new Crime & Policing Act 2026.

"...police tried to reassure... Shine Night Walk that it would be safe for around 2,000 women to cross College Green" NO IT WOULDN'T BE SAFE BECAUSE THE FIRST THING THAT WOULD HAPPEN IS THAT SOME OF THOSE WOMEN WOULD CONFRONT THE FASH AND THE SECOND IS THAT THE COPS WOULD BEAT THEM FOR IT.

You'll never find justice in a courtroom.

Yair Wallach@yairwallach.bsky.social

There are at least two international experts I know - both fierce critics of Israel's destruction campaign of Gaza - who believe the ICJ will not find Israel guilty of genocide, due to the highly conservative approach of the court. This is a real possibility, that should be considered.

and yet we know 100% other human beings can feel distress and yet these tech cultists feel absolutely no desire to show any moral consideration toward any of them in fact quite the opposite

Emily M. Bender@emilymbender.bsky.social

Anthropic is out with new nonsense about Claude (or the collection of models called Claude) deserving moral consideration and/or be able to feel distress, so my inbox is filling up with journos asking me to comment. I've also got a day job, so here is a brief set of public comments on this: >>

Many people - politicians, doctors, parents - see the neurodiversity movement & feel the threat it poses to their worldview. If some minds are different, if some of us are fucked by the school system as it stands - totally shamed & brutalised by its inadequacy - that requires radical change.

(Plus, you know, all the people who would have been getting misdiagnosed with depression/anxiety/bipolar who are now slightly more likely to get the correct diagnosis)

Among other things, given autism and ADHD used to be diagnoses that excluded each other (so you could only get diagnosed with one) until a bit over a decade ago and now, rightly, aren't of course diagnostic rates have gone up even in the people who would have been likely to get a diagnosis then.

Quite tricky not simply exploding with rage at the callous cruelty & gleeful stupidity of all this *gestures at everything* isn’t it? Difficult to keep from bursting into searing flames of apocalyptic anger & spontaneously spattering one’s atoms across the known universe like furious meat confetti

sciencey covid cautious folk, anyone know definitive answers? (not just "yeah I reckon it's probably fine")

Laura@tutusntinyhats.bsky.social

Fellow covid cautious people, does anyome know how risky swimming in an indoor pool is? I've heard that chlorine kills covid, but I don't know if that's true/if it would make swimming fairly low-risk even indoors/how well-ventilated indoor pools usually are.
