The political class's pitch to young people: - Crushing below-NMW jobs. - Can't get one? We'll make you work for free. - Sick or disabled? We'll take away your social security. - Fuck you. - Oh also, you have to go to war with Russia bc of the Brexit vote which happened when you were a child.

The ruling-class is a wine-soaked sexual-harassment orgy in the House of Commons bar that we aren't invited to (but still somehow have to foot the bill for).

The National@scotnational.bsky.social

Andy Burnham has suggested people could have 'a glass or two' of wine to help them through an emergency, as he defended UK Government advice for households to stockpile essential supplies

Soooo this extremely poorly-defined PFI-for-power-plants scheme has, in fact, turned out to be a largely ineffectual placebo to avoid actual state intervention in the energy market? And has been viewed by the Treasury as as a lump of dead money to be assigned elsewhere? I'm shocked, I tell you.

POLITICO Europe@politico.eu

U.K. Labour swept to power with an expensive promise: to create an energy company, hand it billions to invest in British renewables and watch it grow, eventually, to rival other state-owned giants. Two years after GBE was founded, that hasn’t happened.

Again: fascist ideologies cannot authentically present themselves as ruling-class despair seeking salvation in genocidal animus against vulnerable minorities, so it has to create an elaborate permission system that depicts the obviously powerless as 'secretly' all-powerful rulers of everything.

JK Rowling says her gender views “haven’t changed” in a new essay, calling 21st century trans activism “elitist to its core”. ➡️ https://www.thepinknews.com/2026/10/22/jk-rowling-trans-essay-2026/

This stuff is just so ridiculous. We've had society hollowed out from 40 years of neoliberalism to the extent that a stiff breeze could shatter the British state. We're dependent on fossil fuels that have to be shipped through two extremely easily closed navigable waterways. Start there, maybe?

The theological implications of Founding Father Lecture Purgatory are many and varied.

Philip Bump@pbump.com

Even if this were viable as a concept (that there's an afterlife; that it allows conversations with others; that enslavers are going the same place as you), who cares? Oh, are you mad at me, Ben Franklin? Tough shit.

This is a load-bearing keystone in neo-fascist ideology. If you can eschew class analysis and convince yourself that membership in the ruling-class is characterised solely by 'fashionable opinions', then you can pose as an anti-establishment warrior whilst attacking materially powerless outgroups.

flyingrodent@flyingrodent.bsky.social

We might laugh at this or stare at it in pure disbelief but yes, this is the reactionary mind on display here. The smartypants people calling me a witless ignoranus on social media are in fact a globe-bestriding tyrannical elite that must be destroyed. Like Godzilla, but worse.

This even includes if *you yourself are a billionaire* - because, of course, the ruling-class are the (((liberal transhumanists))). This is another example of the great syncretic flexibility of fascism, and the unprincipled pragmatism of its ideologues in pursuit of their desired genocides.

Watching the '7 Up' series, where they take a dozen kids born in 1964, and interview them every 7 years. Amazing how social democracy enabled much more social mobility. One lad went to a 1-room school in the Dales, and ended up researching nuclear fusion in the US. This is what they took from us!

Heartened to see Comrade Healy embracing the immortal science of Marxism-Leninism and rebuilding the economy around the proletariat, the class who generate the social surplus in late-imperialist society. After all, the 'Labour' in the Labour Party is for the labour theory of value.

Chancellor to pitch budget at wealth creators – UK politics live

theguardian.comChancellor to pitch budget at wealth creators – UK politics liveJohn Healey is expected to cut red tape requirements, particularly for smaller businesses Good morning. A week today John Healey, the chancellor, will be doing a media round defending the budget he is presenting on Wednesday next week. Ahead of that, he has given an interview to Patrick Maguire from the Times. As you would expect, there is no real detail in it about the measures he will be presenting to MPs. But the big picture message is very clear – and quite surprising, coming from a chancellor serving a PM who in some respects is steering left compared to his predecessor. Healey says that he wants to be on the side of bloody-minded entrepreneurs who make a profit, he acknowledges that government has made their life harder over the past two years, and he suggests that cutting the ‘cost of living’ for business is just as important as cutting the real cost of living for families. In the quote that gives the Times its splash headline, Healey says: I want to be a chancellor who backs business in Britain making a profit, and those entrepreneurs who, in the end, are the ones who challenge the status quo, come up with innovative ideas and are trying, some of them through sheer bloody-mindedness, to keep going through these sorts of pressures … If you’re not making a profit, you’ve got nothing to put back into the business. And for the people who start up these businesses, the ones who really thrive and grow, they have to make a profit — and they will be much more inclined to put it back into their own business. But we want it to grow here and stay here. If you talk to any of the businesses that have come in and have either had one-to-ones or round tables with me, I have recognised that in recent times there’s been a lot of pressure: employment law, regulation, tax, input costs, supply chains. And so when I talk about the cost of business, and recognising that in the same way as we’re recognising the cost of living pressures, I’m conscious of that as I go into the budget for both businesses and households. [Healey] is expected to use the budget to make significant cuts to regulation on businesses that one senior Treasury source described as “the sludge choking firms”. Reporting requirements are likely to be abolished for many smaller enterprises, The Times understands. Continue reading...

EA closing down BioWare - possibly the single greatest game developer in history - is just artistic vandalism of the highest possible order. Short-sighted corporate greed over the creation of beauty. Won't be buying anything from EA in future. 👎

60 years since the Aberfan disaster - where a small Welsh village lost an entire generation of children in mere moments. Not one prosecution has been brought against the mining execs who profited from lax safety standards. Yes, modern health & safety was born out of Aberfan - but not justice.

The Guardian has been in the forefront of airbrushing this disgusting transphobic paedophile's-charter into a national movement that they claim is merely about 'protecting women and girls'. Crocodile tears from the people who enabled everything leading up to this.

Currently, an activist holding a placard that opposes genocide is classed as terrorism. But this far-right organisation conspiring with loyalist paramilitaries to murder that activist, is not. The Northern Ireland-ification of the whole of UK politics continues.

"They can start cutting people's faces up. They can stab someone. They can shoot someone." EXCLUSIVE: Our hidden cameras capture the leader of Turning Point UK organising a fake rally for a foreign government and helping arrange a murder-for-hire with loyalist paramilitaries.

The kiwifarms-ification of the legacy media (!) continues apace. Imagine if we'd had Leveson II before COVID. Imagine!

flyingrodent@flyingrodent.bsky.social

The Times and the Telegraph here continuing the now-standard tactic of explicitly targeting individual members of the public for national denunciation, a thing that I do not remember happening until the late 2010s.

An absolute ransack of the climate. When ministers say this will 'help British energy consumers' or 'bring down bills', they are *lying*. This gas will be sold on the open European market, and will feather only the nests of fuel execs. Cynically delayed until after the H&St.P by-election too!

bbc.co.ukUK government approves Jackdaw gas field, and says production will start this month - follow liveThe government says the approval will "heat millions of homes and protect hundreds of jobs". Green Party leader Zack Polanski calls it "climate vandalism".

Notice how, now the TERFs and neo-Nazi transphobes have largely institutionalised 'trans people should be forced to use services according to birth sex', they've elided seamlessly on to 'trans people should have no access to services at all'? I mean come on, what did you think this was all about?

'We've come such a long way in Weimar Germany - you hardly see any public lynchings any more since the Social-Democratic government adopted those anti-gypsy laws. Oh those jackbooted chaps down in Bavaria? Well, they're just downright un-German and they'll never amount to anything much.'

John C@badsocialism.bsky.social

Right, fine, this is true, but we should not act like there wasn't massive progress in the last 80 years on racial equality that we should be proud of, and defend, and push for further progress, instead of acting like it didn't exist at all

Nobody should have a shred of faith that this will be used to correct and re-educate genuine (right-wing) hatred vs Jewish people - which could already be done via existing racism / bullying policies. This will, in fact, be used to extend the anticommunist pro-genocide hysteria into schools too.

bbc.co.ukSchools should recognise antisemitism as distinct form of harm, review saysThe government is expected to accept all 27 recommendations made in the review by ex-Ofsted boss, Sir David Bell.

Yeah I mean sure, nonviolent protest movements afford dominant power structures a 'moderate' bloc with which to compromise in the face of violent / terrorist struggle and they therefore have at least some situational utility - but this nevertheless remains the whitest take I've seen in a while.

Sandy Hendry@sandyhendry.bsky.social

Martin Luther King was much more successful than Malcolm X for example. Before that, there was no need for a bloody civil war in most countries that abolished slavery. Just votes. Independence can also be bloodless. Gandhi in India, Walesa in Poland, Mandela in South Africa. The list is long.

This article correctly points to exploitative rentierism in the 'special accommodation' sector re Housing Benefit. But fails to follow the obvious corollary that the vast majority of housing benefits (eg UC housing element) are a huge sop to rentierist landlords more generally.

bbc.co.ukCompanies exploiting welfare system by using residents as 'cash cows', BBC findsAgents try to attract people on housing benefit by using social media videos that offer free rooms and holidays.

Let this be lesson: El-Sayed gave the most measured, compassionate, eloquent answer - and the corporate media will still gin up a wild Islamophobic controversy. There is no format you can propose systemic change that they will accept. Rather, state it plainly & revel in their vindicating disgust.

Redolent of when @peterwalker99.bsky.social compared Council funding of SEN transportation to the budgets for pothole repair. What other conclusion could this be demanding, than the immiseration of young disabled people?

Saul Staniforth@saulstaniforth.bsky.social

Interviewing a govt minister Hazarika shows a graph comparing young people claiming PIP to the size of our armed forces & declares it "tells a story about modern Britain" I can't even make a sarcastic comment about our fearless fourth estate, because Hazarika is a Labour politician

Very much amused to see the 'but the same was true before WW2' replies. Yeah man, the Nazis almost beat the whole of Europe, the USSR took over one third of it, and we had to radically rebuild British society to stop a communist revolution at home. Be careful what you wish for!

Desperately seeking to reverse history by treating individual bigotry not as a deeply anti-social pathology, but as a legitimate fragility that demands infinitely catering to (including with full-throated genocide) is all these ghouls have left. Thank god they'll die off soon.

flyingrodent@flyingrodent.bsky.social

It would IMO be better if MPs had not utterly deranged their own brains on Twitter dot com, wildly radicalising themselves and each other.

Soooo that stuff about how the motion ignores Palestinians and rides roughshod over their expressed desires was... complete transparent nonsense?

The National@scotnational.bsky.social

Palestinians have expressed their support for the Greens after the party adopted an anti-Zionist stance, saying it was 'obvious' the ideology was 'racism' 👇 👉 www.thenational.scot/news/2...

*Not a single prosecution* under the Terrorism Act 2000 vis Palestine Action has yet been brought to any court. Every single result of this restriction has been through innuendo, fear and censorship. That national security advisers can get tangled up in it shows how wildly absurd it is.
