So much ink has been spilled about the masculinity crisis when we could solve it with a simple four-pronged plan: - be swift as the coursing river - with all the force of the great typhoon - with all the strength of the raging fire - mysterious as the dark side of the moona

Pride and Prejudice really captures a universal experience (thinking someone sucks, but changing your mind when you see how nice their house is)

Adorable 4-ish-year-old girl as she swings around and tries to climb the subway pole: “DADA, it’s not naptime! It’s SHOWTIME”

I need a dark comedy about these kids jockeying for parts in the spring musical

Joji Florence, a former math teacher, began dreaming up Miss Major Middle a decade ago. Named for Black trans author and activist Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, the school will be a haven for LGBTQ kids.

I wrote our cover story on Florence Pugh! Please read it! Thanks!!

Princess, madam, soldier-spy. Florence Pugh, who has an extraordinary knack for steering through Hollywood’s choppy waters, plays all three onscreen this year. Read the full cover story from Vanity Fair's @busis.bsky.social: vanityfair.visitlink.me/-fh4Kq

Florence talked to me about making East of Eden, her Gaza advocacy, why she's posting less on Instagram, etc., but I think my favorite part of the story is when she didn't want to talk to me:

All the children at the zoo started melting down at 4:30, but staggered their screams so each could get a solo moment to shine. It was like listening to carol of the bells

Mrs. America is not perfect, but it does have a lot going for it—namely, great performances (Rose Byrne as Gloria Steinem! Cate Blanchett as Phyllis Schlafly!) and a knockout episode in which Sarah Paulson *almost* has a feminist awakening. Worth revisiting imo! www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/20...

Finally, someone at 60 minutes brave enough to ask tough questions like “should women have jobs”

Scoop: I’m told that Ross Douthat is exiting The NYT and is expected to take a role at “60 Minutes.” News expected to be announced soon.

In case you also see this and are like "a magazine writer had a spare $2.6 million?!" let me save you the trouble: his husband was one of the first few hundred employees at Google

After downsizing, a computer scientist and a magazine writer spent $2.6 million to make the space less chaotic www.wsj.com/real-estate/...

Near the beginning of minions and monsters, a Cyclopes steps on a prehistoric Lego. It was such a delight to hear a theater full of parents howl in recognition of his pain

Whether you’re at home or abroad, in a city or in the country, trying to think or trying to clear your head, there’s simply nothing like Walking Around

Sort of funny that the story of the Platner campaign is also the plot of the Jon Stewart movie Irresistible, but somehow dumber

Couldn't fit this into the piece, but the belief that the left needs its own oaf means that Trump is still dictating the rules of engagement. Believing 1) white working class men are the voters that matter and 2) that they will only vote for themselves is just MAGA with a different coat of paint.

A lot of leftist men were — and seemingly still are — willing to accept Graham Platner's many many faults because they have a sneering, condescending belief that working people in this country are white townie oafs who will only listen to other white townie oafs. www.garbageday.email/p/the-curdli...
