'I fear the Mega Death Machine I've created will wipe out all human life. Also, I'm seeking a $2 trillion IPO for it.' This is the essence of 21st Century capitalism and a good part of why people are finding socialism a lot less scary these days.

Yeah this is why Falhávio's claims about a stolen election were never going to hold up: The swing to Lula was everywhere including in states governed by Bolsanaro allies.

They're going to come begging for a bailout. We need to make clear any pol who backs rescuing the slop industry will have their career ended.

Milei needs to be next. Brasileiros I know how you feel about Argentines and their blasphemous claims about Messi being superior to Pelé, but helping them end Milei's rule would be a great thing for humanity.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump on Bolsonaro's loss: "It looked like another rigged election" 😆

(That said I once heard a Brazilian say Neymar was better than Messi and I laughed in his face. I respect national pride and all but come the fuck on.)

Gonna be really funny when he has to cough up $1 million to pay the person who caught a MAGA chud voting twice.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "Anybody reporting Voter Fraud in the past Elections, or the upcoming 2026 Midterm Election, will be paid $1,000,000 upon the arrest and conviction of those that created the Fraud! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP"

Lula has really now reached legendary status of such heights that future Civilization games might let you govern with him as an alternative to Dom Pedro II.

You sadly can't boycott Meta, its tentacles are too broad. But you can get away with boycotting Xitter which is a rigged game.

Kim Sherrell@web.kim

Key lessons from Brazil Amplify our people. Ignore the opposition. Use the tools owned by fascists to defeat the fascists? Meet the people where they are. May need to reconsider my staunch position of boycotting Meta for the reason. Thoughts?

My instincts told me the 'TRUMP NUKE BRAZIL' guys were hurting themselves glad to see I was right.

Albert Pinto@70sbachchan.bsky.social

This really cant be said enough: Bolsonarists are so anti-national interest that it sounds unbelievable for a rightwing party to be so unpatriotic They begged Trump to sanction & tariff their own country & cause economic pain to millions of Brazilians so their guy could win. x.com/rojasrjuand/...

FOLLOW MIKE if you're interested in Brazilian politics! We're in a global fight against authoritarians and learning about the dynamics of other countries is essential!

YAY, I passed 6,000 followers on bluesky from Brazilian election coverage I had over 20,000 followers on twitter & when it collapsed, it hurt my ability to crowdfund. Big thanks to all my new followers! Valeu

A right-wing politician from the southern part of the country floats secession after losing an election. Brazil and the United States have so much more in common than we think!

OK gonna share some of my favorite Brazilian election memes. Will provide translation/cultural context where needed. Let's start with this...

(And for anyone curious: I decided to learn Portuguese after discovering Brazilian music while locked inside during the pandemic and falling head over heels in love with it. And I love a lot of Latin music but Brazil... It's just special.)

Minas Gerais is kind of like Pennsylvania, the crucial swing state in Brazilian elections. Lula's base in the northeast is giving it a hug after it swung toward him in the second round.

It will never happen but Rio would make a perfect city for a Fallout game. I got ridiculously lost this morning because I kept seeing cool looking shit and saying, 'What's that?! I wanna go there!' which is the prerequisite for a good Fallout game.

I eventually found more orientação when I saw the Cristo Redentor and figured out where north was from there. (I could have turned on my maps app but I'm trying to avoid incurring roaming charges when possible.)

'Alguma coisa acontece no meu coração, que só quando cruza Ipiranga e a Avenida São João...'

Jeff Nascimento@jnascim.info

Um dia triste para os haters: a cidade de São Paulo entregou a maior diferença do país, em números absolutos, entre Lula e Flávio: 766.431 votos. Número foi superior ao de Salvador (732.320), cidade-campeã em 2022

pretty clear evidence that republicans in the US losing any election going forward are going to always beg for a coup if they lose. lots of people will have to go to jail

The thing with the Brazilian election is you saw uniform swings toward Lula pretty much everywhere compared to the first round. It wasn't like Falhávio maintained his margins and Lula won 100% of the vote in Pernambuco and Bahia. Your ass just got beat, failson.

Here's Lula celebrating tonight with Erika Hilton, a transgender politician who led the drive to end the six-day work week in Brazil. Erika showed workers solidarity, they showed her solidarity back. Solidarity is how fascism loses.

Oliver Willis@owillis.bsky.social

“Democrats have to join Republicans in saying awful things about trans people to win in red and purple states” Citation?

I feel like the best thing we as Americans can do for the world is obliterate the Big Tech companies we've spawned.

Rafa Sales Ross@rafiews.com

In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. “Digital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.” This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring Flávio Bolsonaro.

É isso. We owe it to not just Brazil but Myanmar, Ethiopia and, well, everywhere to rip Meta into pieces.

Greg Pak@gregpak.net

None of us should forget this. Meta should be subjected to corporate death penalty and permanently broken up into small pieces.

I've become such a cynical bastard that I rolled my eyes a bit when I saw the 'Vamos Virar' posts after the first round. But ho. Lee. Shit. Eles viraram.

OK fellow gringos, here's a free Portuguese lesson: This means 'Dick in the ass of Meta.' (Meta has been fucking with the PT all week, suspending accounts, etc.)

Letícia Cesarino@letcesar.bsky.social

PAU NO CU DA METAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

But give Biden credit: His administration told the Brazilian military they would not accept a Bolsanaro coup. When Bozo I ordered his generals to block Lula from taking power, that may have factored into their refusal.

Nick Field@nickfield.bsky.social

Only one of these guys was able to put his criminal opponent in jail and win a second term

Streets outside my hotel are getting excited. Gonna wait until it's called to not jinx but... I'm totally going out there

*Dedos cruzados*

Taniel@taniel.bsky.social

Another striking result *so far*: The state of Tocantins. It went for Bolsonaro in the first round, 50% to 43%. (A reminder Boslonaro won the first round by 2.) With 40% precincts now counted here, Lula is up 51% to 49%.

1. This is disgusting. 2. Yes motherfucker, a birth certificate makes you a fucking American.

The Bulwark@thebulwark.com

Rally speaker: "Mike Rogers is an American. Abdul has a birth certificate. The birth certificate says he's a citizen of America. You know what? a birth certificate doesn't make you an American."

I've seen more than enough for over a decade now. This man is a pestilence.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump is straight up saying during speeches that he wants white people coming to the country but not black. I don’t know what else people need to see.

The way Netanyahu sees the world is unbearably cynical: He thinks that Zionism isn't just a way to ensure Jewish safety but the only way. He fundamentally believes any society where Jews are a minority will inevitably turn on them.

Nick Field@nickfield.bsky.social

"Most Israeli Jews now see the world the way Netanyahu has long seen it. That is Netanyahu’s great victory. But it is matched by his great loss: Much of the world now sees Israel the way Gazans see it" www.nytimes.com/2026/10/25/o...

And look: There is indeed a long history of Jews being pogrommed out of places. But as an American, I try to imagine our culture and society without Jewish influences and it just makes me sad. We're a better nation with our Jewish friends in it.

I'm sympathetic to Zionism if it means Israel should be a refuge to Jews fleeing persecution. I reject it if it means Jews should only feel safe in one place.

She had a Latino name but Abbott is just hoping that sounding foreign is enough to make people think she's Muslim. American voters I've dumped on you a lot in recent years but I don't think you are this stupid.
