California has deployed an additional 18 Urban Search and Rescue Team members to Texas to assist with ongoing response efforts related to severe flooding impacts. The scale of devastation Texas is experiencing right now is unfathomable, and we're proud to lend a helping hand.

I will not let Trump turn a blind eye to the safety of Californians and stand in the way of protecting this state from catastrophic wildfires. California is making $135M in wildfire prevention grants available to protect our communities this wildfire season.

This Pride Month, we're reminded of Harvey Milk's immortal call that "hope will never be silent." Hard-won LGBTQ rights are under attack across the nation, fueled by attempts to sow division and hatred. Make no mistake: California is proud of who you are.

President Trump’s unlawful military presence in Los Angeles is pulling away a third of our California National Guard counter-narcotic force. His unnecessary takeover is actively making Americans less safe.

California currently has 205 members of the Cal Guard deployed in the Middle East, including at bases in Qatar and Iraq. Jen and I are praying for their safety — and for the safety of every American service member serving in harm’s way.

June 19, 1865 marked a turning point in American history and a hard truth that freedom in America has never arrived for everyone all at once. This Juneteenth, let's honor that relentless spirit of liberation and the abolitionists who righteously fought to secure it.

Farmworkers are hiding because Trump made them targets. Without farmworkers, the crops that feed our nation rot and our tables go empty. This isn’t strong immigration policy — it’s economic sabotage fueled by hate. www.bbc.com/news/article...

California is home to the most immigrants out of any state in the nation. We also have the strongest economy out of any state in the nation. Not despite our immigrant population –– but because of it.

If this is how this administration responds to a Senator with a question, you can only imagine what they're doing to farmworkers, to cooks, and to day laborers throughout California and across the country. We will hold this administration accountable.

California’s farmworkers are the backbone of our economy. They work through grueling conditions – rain and shine, heat and cold, even a pandemic – to feed the nation. Targeting these workers is just wrong. And meant to stoke fear, not improve public safety.

Invoking violence only gives Donald Trump the reaction he’s looking for. Attacking law enforcement officers just doing their job is unacceptable — period, full stop. Protestors who participate in violence or vandalism must be held accountable.

The federal government is taking over the California National Guard and deploying 2,000 soldiers in Los Angeles — not because there is a shortage of law enforcement, but because they want a spectacle. Don't give them one. Never use violence. Speak out peacefully.
