Sunset Riders had a distinctive personality. That exaggerated arcade version of the Wild West gave it an identity all its own. It's a great choice for a retrospective, especially with how much Konami was doing in arcades during that era.

The latest on my friend and HitP Studio programmer @alterhaudegen.bsky.social is that he's showing "significant improvement" and that he's making great physical and mental progress in recent weeks. The treatment results have exceeded the doctors expectations, so it's all really hopeful! 🙂

Hi, Michiel here with news about my partner Hans: the treatment of his brain tumor is going better than expected, though we're not at the end of the road. To keep his spirits high I've commissioned this plushy of the zako enemies in Schildmaid MX, w/ googly eyes, to keep him company. (1/2)

It's time to polish your magical armour, time your keyboard inputs accurately and share with us your three-word reviews of Sony’s PS1 RPG exclusive, The Legend of Dragoon.

And here's my feedback for #ThePandoraDirective read out on @caneandrinse.com. It's a week late cause I was on vacation last week with my family ( #DisneyWorld ) I enjoyed it. More of the same from the previous game. Still that campy B-movie charm and still frustrating with the puzzles. Use a guide

My feedback for #EnterTheGungeon as read out on @caneandrinse.com. This is a fun yet extremely difficult rouge like (or lite) twin stick shooter. I love the cartoony gun aesthetic and I do enjoy the game. But I cannot rinse this one. Maybe one day I will return to it.

Updated the podcast logo yesterday (& all of the thumbnails). I'll also systematically update older episodes on Spotify with new branding (because why not).

My feedback for an extremely old DOS era game I had never heard of prior to seeing it on the upcoming volume earlier this year @caneandrinse.com The game in question? #TheKingOfChicago I did not do well. But it's interesting seeing this early #Cinemaware style 80's interactive mobster game.

Wow, Rage… One of these games I bought on launch day, played through it within a week and never touched again for 15 years…

There’s something great about an old episode becoming a historical document itself. You’re not only hearing people discuss RAGE, you’re hearing what RAGE felt like when it was still a relatively recent game.

Darren sweetly sent me this delightful memento of our time playing Big Walk. It's even in the correct colours! A special experience.

Podcast: RAGE Id's RAGE was released on this day 15 years ago. Back in 2016 - when the game was merely 5 years old - Darren, Karl and Sean discussed what it was like to drive, shoot and craft in its MegaTextured post-cataclysmic wasteland. Listen for free on Spotify, YouTube and podcast places.

A celebration of RESI and videogames in general, but certainly not one that treats with franchise with hushed reverence. A 90 romp that made me and Tan jump and chuckle.

So, the Resident Evil movie is definitely, if unofficially, very much also the [various other unrelated videogames and one in particular] movie. Pretty surprising that Cregger said he toned down the comedy for the final cut, given that it has several comedy movies' worth of gags.

My feedback for #GrandTheftAutoIII as read out on @caneandrinse.com. Worth recognizing the changes GTA3 brought on the industry back then. It's primitive now by modern game standards, this one is still a blast to play even with its frustrations. Vice City greatly improves everything though.

Final bit on that Castlevania clear btw. There's been so many times I've listened to @caneandrinse.com talk about an old game, and it's inspired me to get a good clear on it. The right clear is just around the corner, you've just got to go get it. Great bunch of folks. Always a pleasure.

45 years ago, Frogger hit the arcades. Created by Konami and published by Sega, this simple-but-fun road-crossing game was a breath of non-violent fresh air as players guided the awesome amphibian to his home at the top of the screen. A fabulous game that I played a ton!
