Congress approved funding for colleges and universities that serve large minority student populations. Now the Trump administration is diverting that funding—illegally. Chair @meng.house.gov and Senator @hirono.senate.gov, along with their Tri-Caucus colleagues, are demanding answers.

Happy Filipino American History Month! We honor the history and heritage of #OR06's Filipino community and celebrate their tremendous contributions to our nation. As your Congresswoman, I will continue to uplift the stories and voices of Filipinos and all Oregonians.
This Filipino American History Month, we honor Filipino Americans’ invaluable contributions to our country since their first recorded arrival in Morro Bay in 1587. Together, let’s celebrate the generations of Filipino Americans whose leadership and culture enriches our nation.
Hate incidents targeting Muslim, Sikh, Hindu & Buddhist communities are rising, yet FBI data fails to reflect this reality. We need a whole-of-government effort to combat hate by restoring millions in grants Trump cut and ending his violent immigration enforcement tactics.

We are horrified at the news of a mass shooting plot targeting Indian Americans at a Hindu temple in Illinois by a white supremacist & self-proclaimed Neo Nazi. Thankfully, the plot was foiled, but this is a reminder of the work still ahead to eradicate hate-fueled violence.

Trump took $20 million of your taxpayer money to pay for his campaign ads. Let that sink in.
Thanks to President Trump and Congressional Republicans, millions of Asian Americans have lost their health care coverage in the last year. Hear Lily’s story from New York. @familiesusa.bsky.social
Native Hawaiian women have the highest rates of breast cancer among AANHPI women. This is exactly why we need disaggregated data: to identify health disparities and ensure every community has access to the care they deserve. #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth
Asian women face higher rates of violence at home and abroad, driven by centuries of racism, exoticism, and fetishization. Women deserve to feel safe. We need to address the systemic harms impacting Asian women and end this cycle of violence.
The Trump admin is turning the IRS into an immigration enforcement tool by adding a citizenship question on next year’s tax returns. Taxpayers already need a Social Security number or ITIN to file. This will only deter more people from filing their taxes at all.

Unemployment rose. Previous job gains were revised down. And families are still getting squeezed by high prices. Trump promised more jobs and lower costs. He delivered neither. Working families are paying the price for his broken promises.
Trump campaigned on being a businessman who would grow the economy, but he’s governing as a grifter determined to destroy it while he enriches himself and his billionaire friends. It’s leaving everyday people with fewer opportunities and paychecks that aren’t keeping up.
The Trump admin is welcoming up to 17,500 white Afrikaners next year while shutting down the U.S. refugee program for thousands fleeing persecution and violence worldwide. We betray our values when we pick and choose who deserves safe harbor based on the color of their skin.

Replying to @chu.house.gov
Today I led a bipartisan letter with @meng.house.gov & @congressmanraja.bsky.social urging Trump and DHS Secretary Mullin to immediately grant Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to Nepal. TPS will allow Nepalis already in the U.S. to stay and work here while it's too dangerous to return home.
3 days after DHS made a racist post saying, “you don’t know how to drive Mr. Singh,” a Sikh truck driver was stabbed 17 times at a Wyoming rest stop. Hateful rhetoric has real-world consequences, and it's putting Sikh and South Asian American lives at risk.
It is unconscionable that CBP continues to employ Officer Luis Uribe, who was found guilty of sexually assaulting and robbing four women of Chinese descent. He must be fired immediately and held fully accountable for his crimes.

Janine and I are horrified by the attack on Mr. Singh, a Sikh truck driver and member of our Sacramento community who was stabbed 17 times at a rest stop in Wyoming. Read my full statement condemning this brutal act: bera.house.gov/news/press-r...
The Trump administration gave ICE officers guns and badges without conducting background checks, credit screenings, or any sort of basic vetting. Then they deployed these unqualified, untrained ICE agents to terrorize and racially profile our neighbors. Deplorable.
Chair @meng.house.gov, South Asian Members of Congress denounce racist post targeting UT Austin students:
During Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate the rich contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities to our nation. This month and always, we stand with @hispaniccaucus.bsky.social to celebrate the diversity that makes our country stronger.
More than half of all the people ICE arrested in July did not have a criminal record. They are not going after the ‘worst of the worst.’ They’re deporting grandmas, cancer patients, and hardworking immigrants just to meet arbitrary deportation quotas. www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...
