I really enjoy when Star Trek fans have a specific obsession, whether it's a series, a particular character, a relationship, an alien race or whatever. Even when I might not care for it personally, there's just something nice about seeing it through their eyes.

After #StarTrekTNG's "The Naked Now"➡️, #StarTrekTNG's "The Drumhead"⬇️ re-introduces the Oberth class to the 24th century with a recurring shot of the USS Cochrane (NCC-59318). The class, which I am very fond of, was originally introduced in "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock"⬆️.

Oh, the other consistent theme I've had in mind from the start is that I'd like it to have a very blue collar focus. These will be the ships that do the unglamorous work that needs to be done. That grew out of the cargo ship being my first model made, followed shortly by a Ptolemy.

These TAS-style renders were made in Blender about three months ago, but I don't think I posted the Ptolemy-class here. These were all made over about a week, which is just insanely productive for me! I want to make a short animation with them at some point.

Discovery season 1 should have focused totally on the Klingon war and the mirror stuff could have been it own season, the final few episodes of season one feels such an afterthought to me.

Some WIP shots of a new Blender 3D model I've been working on, the Antares-type ship first seen in Star Trek The Animated Series and later added into the original series remaster. This is my own interpretation, but I've tried to keep it pretty faithful to the original.

For me, I picture the Celestial being another Lost era design maybe some between a Galaxy and Ambassador. The Envoy with a sovereign class looking design (I know we have the Ross Class) but with Cali class pylons?, Monarch maybe a picard era ship?

The new Obena-class model for Star Trek Online was modeled by Tobias Richter, with some polish work done by @ramonmatas.bsky.social, who collaborated with @scorpiondesign.bsky.social to do an "ILM" pass on the design so it felt at home with STO's higher detailed ships. @mikemcmahan.bsky.social
