Do you want to listen to me yap about the Nats for an hour? Oh yes you do. Mark your calendar, and subscribe to Aaron's podcast (and listen to the back episodes, even the Yankees one).

Last push for this week's episode of The Fancestor! (Don't listen to the predictions at the end. Someone was blinded by his own handsomeness.) Come back on Wednesday for a brand new episode featuring @carl.bigfool.com on Washington Nationals fandom! The first of two Nats eps that are...kinda great!

Did you know: Bernie’s house from the old ballpark is at Lakefront Brewery. They used to have the slide and you could actually go down it, but had to stop that because liability. Great brewery tour, highly recommend if you’re in Milwaukee.

What are you talking about, my hometown had Hoss’s, Ponderosa AND Bonanza

a 25 year old could not comprehend how bad the dining options were in the median American town in 1996

The Brewers hats made the crowd look like a big Cub Scout meeting. It’s a good design, actually, but it’s too small for my enormous head. The MLB Network hat does have a small Tampa Bay logo. It likewise doesn’t fit well. It is also SUPER LAME

Is this... is this an Onion article?

Scoop from @brettlogiurato.bsky.social: CBS has sold its local election night coverage to DraftKings, stirring more controversy inside the David Ellison-owned company. Details in @status.news: www.status.news/p/cbs-draftk...

Last repost: Yahoo is not only trying to gamify email, they're doing it to their sports app too. Giving me a fan ranking and a streak based on how often I check on a given team in their app. So, so dumb.

I am once again reminded that the playoffs are sometimes more fun to watch when your team isn’t in them. I would be posting “I am going to hurl” every couple of innings.

If I had nickel for every playoff home run hit off the foul pole in the seventh inning in a stadium named for an orange juice company I'd have two nickles which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

The El-Sayed/Tommy conversation is remarkable, especially (IMO) at the end where AES asks "Do you disavow any attempt to read any religious doctrine into the laws of our country?" and Tommy says no. Yet another case of "It's different when we do it." Kind of wish AES had pressed him on that.

Hey I wonder if Brooks has written anything calling on Trump to BE MORE CIVIL when he calls the Democrats dumb and evil

driftglass@driftglass.bsky.social

"Jon Ossoff, my advice to him is, if you start calling your political opponents Nazis, maybe it's time to shut up. That's just not what we do here in this country." -- David Brooks, this evening. Remember, Brooks still gets very handsomely rewarded by the fossilized media for saying shit like this

If I ever catch a home run on the fly or otherwise get a ball that I decide I want to keep, I am immediately vacating my seat and going to another part of the park to prevent this kind of thing from happening.

The D.C. Universe@dcuniverse.bsky.social

“The fan then looked at the camera, shrugged, and said, ‘I’m sorry, I can’t! I’m not giving it to the kid! I feel bad, but I’m not giving it to the kid!’” In a world largely without heroes, it’s inspiring that some people will still do the right thing. Well done, sir. 🫡 nypost.com/2026/10/07/s...

Ooh, fun (if somewhat evil) alternative course of action: Give the ball to a DIFFERENT kid, while looking at the filming/shouting dad and smiling.

Has anyone started a repository of Muse horror stories? Because you know those are coming. Cancelled critical doctors appointments, trips rescheduled at a cost of thousands of dollars, personal conversations spammed to people they shouldn’t have been… you have to know you’re risking these and more.

I know "AI did a dumb, bad thing" stories are a dime a dozen, but I'm going to tell this one anyway. Because I am a part-time amateur musician, I belong to a Facebook group for open mics in the DMV (sorry, it's the best clearinghouse for this info right now).

For the past couple months, we keep getting posts for open mics that are very much not in the DMV. We just got one in Texas, and another in Arizona. The locals will comment "Yeah this is kind of far from DC" and the like, and if the perpetrators reply at all it's "Wait what? I didn't post this."

The theory is that they are asking an AI agent to promote their open mic, and said agent is posting to any open mic FB group it can find, regardless of whether they're really relevant or not. So I'm about to abandon the FB group, because it's so full of useless posts. Thanks, AI, good job.

I would like to see more men talking about how to and peer pressuring each other into calling out misogyny and rape culture. Going against social norms is hard, and it helps to share tips and support.

The Nats were 12-8 in games I attended this year. Not bad. Also the first non-playoff season where I actually made it to 20 games.

CJ does not make that play. Nasim has his flaws, and may not be back next year, but I have enjoyed watching him this season.

On the one hand, I still have a lot of beer in the house from the last party we threw. On the other hand, I want to get the altbier that Virginia Beer Company just put out, and I should get an Oktoberfest. And Total Wine is an easy stop going home from the office.
