🚨 Last chance! Early bird tickets for #AutoML2025 in #NYC close Aug 1! Join top experts like Manuela Veloso, Andrew Gordon Wilson & more. 🎟️ 2025.automl.cc/registration... 📝 Submit late-breaking work to the non-archival by Aug 4!

La rêve ! And maybe one day we do not need to provide each and every information in 3 different (badly designed) forms neither. And maybe just one fsd advice and not two? And maybe no triple validation of lab direction needed to buy a train ticket for 40 euros? Oh, dear France, life could be 🏖️

FOGA notifications are out. We hope that all submitting authors find the reviews useful, regardless of the final decision. As always, feedback on the review process (which is under constant evolution to test different ideas) is welcome and can be addressed to the PC chairs and the organizing team.

Happy to announce that 56 papers have been submitted to FOGA 2025. We are now entering the reviewing phase FOGA will happen from Aug. 27-29, preceded by a workshop for COST action ROAR-NET roar-net.eu on Aug 26 Looking forward to hosting the community in beautiful Leiden, NL naco.liacs.nl/foga2025/

When everyone else goes deep learning and foundation models, time for the optimization crowd to become creative 😇 In this PNAS brief report, we introduce an innovative approach to attack the long-standing problem of placing n points in [0,1)^d as uniformly as possible: doi.org/10.1073/pnas...

Point sets of low discrepancy are useful in a number of applications. Essentially, wherever you use Sobol sampling, you could replace by more specifically optimized sets. We have tons of ideas for how to improve further, using classic optimization, learning, heuristics. Happy to collaborate :-)
