Freezer is groaning with spaghetti sauce, roasted cherry tomatoes & chili base. Today's project was Gramma's Chelsea Sauce. The garden goodies were simmered all morning with sugar, vinegar & a wee baggie of pickling spice. It will be a taste of summer on potatoes (or anything) in February

Not to shock all 6 of my regular followers but: summer morning routine around here includes "tomato porn". Bees don't seem to find their way into the greenhouse. So I pick a pollen-laden blossom and touch the others to ensure a good crop. First wee babies of 2026

Day 40 not smoking. Two pack a day for 52 years. Using Champix. Too lazy to look it up but prolly funded by the govt back when it considered research to better citizens' welfare worth the bucks. Figure announcing to all 12 of you who read my stuff will cement the resolve. Make me make this happen!

8pm as I write. So the clock says. Feels like midnight. Why does one lousy hour make such a difference? This is the easy one - an extra hour to sleep in - what's not to like? Voting if anybody cares to get rid of DST so we don't have to do this every six months.

Chicken bbq tonite with the last of the mesquite chips. Gonna miss mesquite. Learned of it when we visited Napa Valley in 1984. Not buying them anymore. Just one Canadian who loved visiting Calif. Yr tainted with the same brush. Sorry.

Fettuccini tonite with fresh tomato sauce (ripest of the backlog used!) + buns in the air fryer. Still 30ish degrees today but managed to make an indoor meal. Win.

May have started too many tomatoes for a 2 person household. xtended fam will be getting spaghetti sauce, chili base & what Brian calls 'burnt tomatoes' = cherries+ honeybunch minis in the air fryer with garlic for pizza base all winter

Fruit fly season! Head's up wine drinkers. Just tossed a full glass with four of the little rotters in it. Somebody needs to invent a window/door screen with a wee bit smaller mesh. They flew right past my trap of apple cider & dish soap. Google says they like that best. Wrong. They prefer wine.

Talking to myself: fresh out of the shower. How many actually rinse and repeat with the shampoo? Always seemed like a marketing gimmick. Hair seems fluffy enough after one application. Any feedback?

Notice on my phone: I can accept the AI update now or wait until it's automatically added. Will summarize my emails for me. Like how do you summarize "See ya then" "Invoice attached" or "WTF?" which is most of them.
