It’s Disabled Women’s Equal Pay Day. Disabled women make 56 cents on the dollar to nondisabled men. This is against the backdrop of record job losses for Black, disabled, & women workers, segregated workplaces/submin wages for disabled workers, a worsening care crisis, & more. #DWEPD #MoreWithLess

Today is Disabled Women's Equal Pay Day! Too many disabled women are forced to live in poverty by asset limits and work requirements that restrict access to lifesaving programs like Medicaid, home health care, and SNAP. #DWEPD #MoreWithLess

Image: Text reads, “Disabled Women’s Equal Pay Day. We do more with less. October 20.” The graphic is navy blue with white and green text and green organic shapes in two corners. There is a green-tinted image of a young Black person sitting in a wheelchair.

I wear this sweatshirt from ADAPT when I need extra support doing this work. I've had it for years, and the message is more salient than ever. Disability rights are constitutional rights! Our homes not nursing homes!

Lots of data gathering and writing on voting accessibility across the country - more soon! Trying to get as much helpful info as possible out before Nov. 3. #CripTheVote

Working and getting my PhD means I am…going through it, but I also notice that doing both means I feel less anxiety about my writing being a million percent perfect. I have a lot of balls in the air, and a great draft moving along is better than a perfect draft staying put. #ScholarCrip

New @disabilitypolicy.bsky.social publication from Felicity Chapman and Jessica Lopez! Learn from them about the importance of accommodations in the classroom and the workplace, and how the RISE Act could help.

New publication alert! In “Stop Telling Disabled Students to Forget Their Rights,” Felicity Chapman and Jessica Lopez challenge an article from @wsj.com that advised recent graduates to “forget about academic accommodations” when joining the workforce.

There is strong historical connection between disabled people in Palestine and disabled people in the U.S. Both governments are utilizing the same policy framework of eugenics. That is why you can't free one group without gaining freedom for all. www.abc.net.au/listen/progr...

As the US government practices fascism and eugenics, we need a collective vision of liberation for the disability community. @disabilitypolicy.bsky.social is proud to co-sign this vision alongside @disabilitylab.bsky.social, disability-led organizations, leaders, and organizers nationwide.

A federal judge struck down the community integration provisions of the Sec. 504 rule by HHS. This removes guidance on community integration, but Sec. 504, the ADA, & Olmstead do remain the law. Disabled people have fought for decades for the right to live in our communities. We're not going back.

Small win: over the years I have become much more comfortable simply finding a chair. I can’t stand much - my legs are weak and I’m in a lot of pain. I used to feel so self conscious about leaving/pausing a conversation to go sit down, but now I march my butt over to a chair no matter what. Growth!

I'm excited to be developing a disability policy course that I'll (🤞) teach next year for University of Nevada, Reno undergrads. There is SO much to cover. If you have readings/videos/other media on US disability policy that my students shouldn't miss, please flag for me/send my way! #ScholarCrip
