AI’s sales pitch has drifted steadily from “We can generate cool stuff!” to “We will overwhelm and smother cool stuff through sheer blunt quantity until we are all that’s left”

Some important new government policy that Native Americans might be interested in:

Trump talks about Denmark and Greenland just now: "The fact that they landed a boat there 500 years ago doesn't mean that they own the land."

Oh, what the fuck?!? All my published academic papers are in here. Somehow when I heard, “authors,” I forgot about myself and academic work.

Just a reminder to check for your name in this list of books that OpenAI trained from. If your name is there, they probably owe you several thousand dollars. OpenAI cried that if everyone eligible author files, the company will go bankrupt, so I'm alerting every author I have ever spoken to.

We recognize that Britney Spears was pilloried in the public eye as a child star becoming a young woman, picked apart, laughed at, and we wanted a reckoning. Now I don't know much about Jojo Siwa but all the same my feed is full of people being pointedly cruel to her as though she deserves it.

When I was a kid, one of my favorite words was "discombobulated" because it was fun to say. As an adult, one of my favorite words is "discombobulated" because that describes my current state most of the time.

Ag is a real job. It takes real skills, knowledge, & people who gaf about what they're doing. Stop treating agriculture like society's dumping ground.

I really hate how gator imagery is being used in fascism. Gators don’t answer to anyone. No you can’t feed undesirable populations to gators. They don’t work that way. They don’t take orders. You people know nothing about gators and it annoys me.

"thanks but i'm too [x] for criticism right now" is SUCH the perfect response to any criticism, especially when you replace [x] with "attractive", that i hesitate to release it into the wild. but i'm too attractive for any criticism right now qwantz.com/index.php?co...

Is it weird that I actually *like* the seasonal KUSC membership drives? 1. They play shorter, "fun" pieces I'm more likely to recognize 2. The hosts tell jokes 3. Get to hear multiple creative uses for branded baby onsies

As the country hurtles headlong into fascism, I do wish people would point the blame at the REPUBLICANS who are voting for it and actively enabling Trump, rather than the Democrats who gave it their all during the election but couldn't overcome the worldwide post-Covid demand for regime change

It is like having the goose that lays the golden eggs and discovering that the price of gold is kinda low, but the modeling fees for a sexy goose saying “Got gold?” are through the roof.

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism. We have to sustain each other. Making joy isn’t denial, it’s how we will survive

(I know, Kids These Days probably just have some sort of Spotify algorithm that spits out music at them, but I am Old School and listen to proper, complete albums or carefully curated mixes, because I am neurodivergent and stuck in my ways like that)

Comparing even just the following feed I set up here in the last hour to what the dashboard has become on Twitter, it's like wow, even with what I thought was excessive use of the block tool and judicious following I was still visiting an ocean of garbage every day.

I will say as I get settled in here, it's lovely looking up accounts I followed on Twitter but haven't heard from in a long time, and seeing them active and posting new things. It's like reuniting with a friend. :) A friend I've never talked to irl and who doesn't know me from adam, but - a friend.

You are up to date.
