Even so. I'm taking a harder line on this as of today. You folks can tell the difference between the 27 different kids who have been Robin the Cannon Fodder. I think you can manage using my correct names. Thank you.

No. Ghoulish like that ad of AI ‘Audrey Hepburn’ for chocolate. Don’t puppet people’s minds or bodies. Why would I bother to read something nobody bothered to write? I’d love a favourite writer’s REAL insight on a beloved franchise. This is the loser irl version of faerie gold: it isn’t even leaves.

Hey, DSA friends in NYC! I'm running to be a convention delegate! I'm one of the few folks running in SBK who's emphasizing tech issues (I'm a member of @nycdsatech.bsky.social), & I'd be honored to get your vote if you're a DSA member there! (I'm easy to find - the only Greg on that ballot lol.) ❤️

The whole "Peter is Tony's chosen one and thus wracked with grief" thing is unconvincing and incredibly irritating, predicated as it is on Peter forgetting he had an Uncle Ben and Tony apparently forgetting he had A WHOLE ENTIRE DAUGHTER.

And the tonal whiplash of fridging Aunt May and then like five minutes later recreating the pointing Spider-Men meme was...a choice. But at least we got a hilariously incoherent deployment of "with great power" that isn't saying what the movie thinks it's saying, so...there's that?

No Way Home: 60% extremely silly but delightful cameos, 40% pretty awful and nonsensical movie. I had way more fun but also hated it. More of Molina and Dafoe chewing scenery and Garfield crying beautifully, less of...the plot.

It's interesting to me that both of these movies are built around grief and despite this weekend being very much about grief for me, emotionally they both left me totally cold. And I am SUCH an easy movie crier! Me and Andrew Garfield both!

Definitely a weird feeling to be as emotional about Aslan as I am, considering the betrayal I felt when I discovered how Christian (and antisemitic, at the end) these books are, but C.S. Lewis is dead so I get to love Aslan while thinking Jesus was just a nice Jewish carpenter and he can't stop me.

My main takeaway from this year's NYCC is that WOW trading cards have taken over a huge part of the geek world (as part of the already massive trend towards blind boxes) and as charmingly nostalgic as that is, I'm feeling some kind of way about the...recession indicator-ness of it all.

This is also a thing I will not allow myself to touch with a ten foot pole because I would lose my mind over it. Sorry, various DC sets on display at the DC booth, I will not be tempted by your siren song!

Let's GOOOO NYC! Please sign this petition and tell @mayor.nyc.gov to CANCEL the "A.i." pilot programs that would turn up to 50,000 NYC high schoolers into guinea pigs for tech companies!

We need your help! The NYC DOE is planning to test AI on up to 50,000 students without asking for consent as part of their "pilot programs." Help us tell them no product testing on kids! Cancel the pilots! Sign the petition and share widely! @comixaction.com @gregpak.net @climatefamsnyc.bsky.social

I am proud that no less than 4 people immediately alerted me to the Darkwing Duck reboot, but the fact that it took days for me to learn that Sabrina Carpenter has been cast as Ginger Rogers clearly means I need to rethink some things. Meditating on how to strengthen my personal brand as we speak.

Took out a digital drawing from a few years ago that I wasn't quite happy with to see if re-working and doing it traditionally might help. Sorry, not Batman. GREEN ARROW and BLACK CANARY.

If Dolly was our constant reminder that it was Good to be Good, Tim Curry was our reminder that it was Good to be Weird. Embrace your strangeness, sing with Muppets, wear your lingerie with a leather jacket, and fuck with uptight people who hate anything that makes them remotely uncomfortable.

Dolly Parton preached kindness and acceptance. She worked hard to make people's lives better. She used her fame and status to help others. Now look at how her life is being celebrated. Look at the boundless love. This is the way. More people should figure that out.

I think of Superman not as a power fantasy, but as a fantasy of the powerful as really good people. I kind of feel that way about Dolly Parton, too.
