I have a very specific ask. I'm looking for a Farmer Jack commercial from the early to mid 80s that starts and ends with a FJ truck pulling into a parking lot and at some point in the commercial the truck driver talks about "cherries from Traverse City." I will give $40 to whoever finds it first.

if you want to follow ANYTHING from what elected Lula here in brazil, this is the most important lesson and change of mindset that happened here just don't give them the attention they want. let them speak amongst themselves and let us win by silencing them with our voices

The online part was important too, of course. We collectively decided to not interact with any right wing post or comment ever. Trolls and bots lost their power. This is a good lesson.

Last year I had to take my baby to the ER for dehydration at 10 weeks old because someone at my partner’s job came to work sick with “just a cold.” It passed to my baby. Baby was crying nonstop for days because they were hungry, but they kept spitting everything up in these enormous mucous globs.

Did you know that when a newborn comes to the ER for dehydration, the ER puts a catheter in them to test for bacterial infection and kidney issues? I hope you never have to experience the screams of agony of your sick 10-week old baby getting a catheter. For “just a cold.”

Regular reminder that when you go to things while sick, you are giving those germs to people with autoimmune disorders, you’re passing them to someone’s newborn, to someone’s elderly parents. It’s “just a cold” to you but it can and does severely impact countless people.

I am b e g g i n g people to mask up at major cons, *especially* ones with 5-digit crowd sizes!! Lightbox this weekend was absolutely ravaged; I’m hearing of SO many attendees and exhibitors who got sick from doing the show this year!! Please stay safe out there! 🙏 🙏

I thought this was going to be about how Joe Biden has been a centrist piece of shit for the past half century, but it's just relitigating the inactions after January 6, when that road to American fascism had already long been paved.

This article is from July, before republicans REALLY started to realize how lethal this administration is to their campaigns and were still okay with saying the quiet part out loud.

Interesting approach by Mike Rogers to make his loyalty to Elon Musk & the oligarchy an explicit part of his campaign earlier this year. “When you stand with my Senate campaign today, you are directly shielding Elon Musk,” Rogers wrote. www.metrotimes.com/news/mike-ro...

I moved to Oak Park in 1990 and lived there for many years and I am just now, in this moment, learning that the city's post office is off of 8 Mile. We ALWAYS went to Royal Oak or Ferndale, depending on which direction we were headed. I just assumed it was on Oak Park Blvd. next to city hall!

Conrail Twitty@grenadine.bsky.social

Tonight I finally found out the answer to a local history/land use thing I’ve been wondering about. Ever since we moved up here I have wondered what the hell is up with the weird location of the Oak Park post office. It’s hidden off of 8 Mile in a “technically walkable, but not really” location

UPDATE: IT REALLY EXISTS! And the only entrance is a side street off Eight Mile that is so inconspicuous, I thought I turned on the wrong street and was trespassing on an industrial lot until I got to the end of the street.

I got a tiny amount of pushback yesterday for being skeptical about Elissa Slotkin supporting Abdul El-Sayed. To be fair, she hasn't given any indication that she'll weasel out of her words of support like Haley Stevens is doing but this is exactly why I have concerns.

I love this kid, if you couldn't tell.

I can't tell him this, but I was so proud of my 7 year old nephew today when I found out he confronted a classroom bully and instead of being physical with him, simply informed him he was "being an asshole."

I give him credit for asking questions even though so much of it went over his head. I tried to answer them as fairly and unbiased as possible while still explaining why these mean, scary commercials were playing. He's not questioning if my white ass hates him, so that's the most important thing.

This is still bothering me so much. But I get to see my nephew again today and I told him I'd bring my absentee ballot over and show him how it works, and he asked, "Can you bring the guy on tv with you?" "You mean Abdul El-Sayed? He's busy, bud." "Why?"

The commercials were the worst. He saw one talking about Abdul El-Sayed and Sharia law and trying to explain to him who was saying these things, why they were saying these things, and what these things even meant was one of the most challenging situations with a child I've ever dealt with.

In Detroit, regular gas has hovered around $4.50/gallon, give or take 25¢ and diesel has reliably stayed at $6.99 for weeks but I've seen it as high as $7.49. And those are really high prices for the area.

Lmao "liberals are the NEW racists" implies there's an established group of old racists. Who would that be? 🤔

It's from the No Going Back PAC, which has been tied to the current administration as an attempt to keep republicans in the majority. They've spent upwards of an estimated $200 million and the best they can come up with is an ai generated flyer lmao

It's 2:30 in the morning and I'm wide awake because I'm ruminating over the fact that this man hung dong on stage at Woodstock '99 while rioters set fire to an audio tower. None of that sounds real but I am actually underselling this 100% true sequence of events.

I always knew Woodstock '99 was a shitshow but I never knew WHAT made it a shitshow. The short answer is corporate greed. More specifically, they upcharged concessions, outsourced utilities (water/sewage/garbage) to the lowest bidding contractors, hired untrained teens for security.

They held it on a former military airbase so the entire festival was built on a tarmac with no shade. So it really sucked that the entire weekend was during a 90+ degree Fahrenheit heat wave. Also, the water stations all got contaminated with sewage and most broke completely by day 2.

It's always funny when I see people who I just assume are extremely online saying things like "I don't know who Chris Chan is" and I mean this genuinely and sincerely when I say, bless their precious untainted hearts

This, for me, is a certified Curtains for Zoosha moment

I have so many messages I haven't replied to that I kinda just want to throw my phone into the river and start a new life because that would be easier than replying to them all. And a good chunk of them are people who can read this skeet so lol sorry, I'll get back to you eventually I promise

It's bullshit that being nicer to myself hasn't cured my mental illness. At least I'm getting better* about not feeling guilty about doing things purely to make myself happy. * I have not mastered this skill yet

Three years ago, my dad said that all fish are the same shape. Out of spite, I decided to draw all 478 families of bony fish listed in Nelson 2016. There's still some stuff I need to edit and some fish I want to redraw but, after 985 days, I finished my big dumb fish project last night.

Martin Luther King was much more successful than Malcolm X for example. Before that, there was no need for a bloody civil war in most countries that abolished slavery. Just votes. Independence can also be bloodless. Gandhi in India, Walesa in Poland, Mandela in South Africa. The list is long.

the thing about invoking mlk jr against malcolm x is that this white supremacist system assassinated both of them almost as if it didn't matter what they were saying or preaching
