between serbia, brazil, and hopefully november 3, a good reminder: voting works it’s not the end, there’s always work to be done after the vote, but if you want to beat the motherfuckers and keep them out of power: vote your asses off

It might not be the first, but it’s the first one I remember. The Aristocats (1970). The line at the movie theater snaked all the way to the back of the building. New Orleans, LA.

First film you saw at the cinema. The real first one, not the pretend one you tell people! Mine: The Empire Strikes Back, 1980, Wigan. We were near the front and I can still remember how massive the AT-ATs looked, looming over us out of the snow :) Film, year, where, and whatever stuck with you.

What was he supposed to do? It was a horseshit question. Was he supposed to be somber and serious to reassure us all that he’s not a sleeper agent? He very calmly and politely handed that idiot his ass because that idiot was acting in bad faith. We need more of that, not less

James Carville comes from a conservative family. He married a conservative. Maybe he’s one, too. It’s long past time to stop paying attention to him, regardless

Woo hoo! Tax sales!

“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?” Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

Trump and his Republican allies are counting on Americans staying home so they can cling to power. DON’T GIVE THEM WHAT THEY WANT‼️ Early voting is already happening in multiple states, with more opening soon. Make your voting plan. Bring someone with you. Make your voice heard. #VoteEarlyPlan

Look at the shabby state and increasingly authoritarian trajectory of the country and ask yourself if we can endure 2 more years of a lawless Trump administration wreaking havoc with no check from Congress, then vote accordingly. This is not the time for a protest vote or purity politics.

I saw a bumper sticker yesterday that relied heavily upon punctuation. “It’s all about Jesus – Charlie Kirk” I was disappointed it didn’t say, “It’s all about Jesus, Charlie Kirk” Because what he was hawking had fucking nothing to do with Jesus.

More of this, please

You can’t drive to John Roberts’ Maine retreat, but they can’t stop protesting kayakers. Holding signs: “Roberts Benched the Constitution,” a local columnist is urging residents to openly shun him, writing, “May you never feel welcome here again.” Gift link. 👇 www.nytimes.com/2026/10/01/u...

Post a vampire that isn’t Dracula? This is who I think of, but I’m old 🤷🏻‍♀️ Barnabas Collins of Dark Shadows
