Been gone for a week. After I left, Toddler grabbed a Pepsi from the cupboard and put it on his dresser. Told everyone it's Daddy's and he's saving it for when I get home. I have: a) the sweetest kid b) a Pepsi problem, apparently.

Screwing around with aircraft Wi-Fi is a real great shortcut to finding yourself in federal custody

Am I a fairly seasoned business traveler? Yes. Have I once ridiculously overtipped a Dominican airport employee to expedite my family through check-in, security and exit customs because I was at my wits end? Hell yes.

Yeah, okay man. Go have some kids and take an airplane trip with them when they're under the age of 7 and then get back to me.

Not in our local Buy Nothing groups. I've been dispatched to disassemble and haul home so many climbing structures that it's become a family meme.

There are two main things that are genuinely very difficult to give away, even for free, on Facebook. These are acoustic pianos and backyard play structures.

Canada reshaped its music industry with a quirky radio rule that changed who got heard šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ Listen to a new episode of 99% Invisible wherever you get your podcasts šŸ‘‰ https://bit.ly/4vh5Y1A

Took the kids out of school for a week for a family event, so their teachers gave them some worksheets. 20 minutes in, Twin B hits me with "You have to make sure to also give us time to play. Playing is the basic right of every child." I'm legitimately impressed, but also, bruh, it's only 8:45am.

Sure Artemis II was cool, but this is a golden opportunity for the Canadian Space Agency to really boost applications.

As a kid I wanted to be an astronaut cos my older sister told me that when they come back, they're given a slice of lasagne wrapped in pastry and deep fried. If the TV news reporters are to be believed, this is not true. I'm upset for our new heroes and the loss of my dream.

The Halifax Citadel. Saw Our Lady Peace and the Tragically Hip there. And the kind curator at the Army museum let me brandish an AK47. I should say, those were separate visits.

"Why does your note to the Tooth Fairy ask her name? Isn't it just 'Tooth Fairy'?" Twin A: "That's her job. I want to know her real name. It's probably something like Jennifer."

One of the kids just casually dropped "if we need to move and you and mom go shopping for a new house while I'm at school, can you please try to find one with a bowling alley?" Maybe they watched too much HGTV with my parents over the break...

There's plane ticket money, then there's private jet money, then there's "operating your single-engine four-seater out of Dulles and parking at the Saarinen terminal" money.

Twin A: "I found this. What is it?" "Oh, that's my parking pass, so they let me park at work." "Can't you just leave the car in the parking lot and go inside?"

Fun fact: you can email literally anyone when you're talking up one of their staff. They'll even thank you for it.

Using your position as a senior employee or customer to recognize people, maybe helping them improve their own position, is its own reward. That is far, far more power to wield than any complaint.

Text 1: "Air Canada welcomes you to your layover!" Text 2: "Twin B has strep." Text 3: "This is an alert that there is a gastro outbreak at the daycare."
