Phoenix? 🐦‍🔥🙈

okay the swift rewrite of the bluesky app is VERY good it cost about 40 dollars in deepseek tokens then about 150-200 in sonnet tokens to really polish the UI and animations fully featured all the way from moderation to age verification to group chats

😓 Google Maps web site really tries very hard to switch users to the mobile app. A lot non-dismissible prompts. Tapping on “Find a place” field will also attempt to launch the mobile app.

In my free time, I've been building and testing an experience that moves away from the emotional roulette of feeds and the suck-you-in nature of infinite scroll. It puts your people front and center, always, before anything else. If you're interested in testing in the coming weeks, let me know.

I … disagree. In short, I don’t believe that forcing a site into your current mode gets to be dependent on the time of the day. The two-state approach in the post has this problem when the OS is set to auto-change from light to dark based on the time of the day. 🧵👇

🔥 New blog post: Dark mode toggles that expose three states (system, light, dark) seem like the best option. Until you think about user goals, that is. Before rushing to disagree, hear me out. lea.verou.me/blog/2026/da... PS: As a data point, @jakearchibald.com was converted after reading this 😅

Bluepy is now also a Blacksky client! On the login screen, you can choose between the Bluesky and Blacksky AppViews. I also added a Blacksky theme to make it feel more like home when you switch over. All your favorite Phanpy features, including Catch-up, now available for @blackskyweb.xyz 🎉

thanks to @quillmatiq.com, Bluepy now supports logging into to alternative AppViews, like @rude1.blacksky.team's Blacksky which is where i'm sending this post from try it out at https://bluepy.social

Heartbreaking. And a wake-up call. It is no longer about being difficult to find a way to sustain yourself through your work online. It is no longer sustainable to keep a website up now. Axel has done so much for the web and all of us. Buy one of his books if you can. We've learned so much from him.

1/ I’m still processing what’s going on in tech at the moment. I used to feel at home in that world. It used to feel incredibly creative and positive. Now it’s increasingly full of bugs, dark addicting patterns and AI slop. 2ality.com

Got excited about @alice.mosphere.at's Phanpy for Atmosphere fork so I queued up a bunch of PRs over the weekend, and now I'm co-maintaining 😅️ Mostly focused on bugs/UX glitches I'm catching while using it, but there's a lot we can do to make this more Atmosphere-centric.

bluepy (bluepy.mosphere.at), your favorite mastodon client's atproto port is now officially co-maintained by @quillmatiq.com

The main functionality I wanted from Phanpy for an Atmosphere client was the Catch-Up feature, and @alice.mosphere.at's Atmosphere fork Bluepy already has it working. No more having to scroll feeds, I can just...catch-up... 🥹

Anuj Ahooja@quillmatiq.com

Porting Phanpy to the Atmosphere has been on my list for a while (actually attempted it a couple times), so this is...this is amazing. Already warned @alice.mosphere.at that I'll be sending PRs and/or forking it. Phanpy is the best social media client I've ever used, and the Atmosphere needs it.

I don't think tech at large understands how hard it is to be an open source maintainer right now. So many great folks are on the brink of burnout. Funding is drying out. We live in a security minefield. Companies think humans are disposable. If you're a maintainer, we care. You deserve the world.

Note that there's no edit history. So, if Bsky implements this one day, it should have historical record of previous edits 🤞

That D0, D1 indicators look cool 🤔 Thoughts: - Not sure how that minimap would also visualized nested threads/replies 🤔 if there's any nested UI? - Wondering how filter would affect replies of a thread, conversations might "cut off"? Looks like only can filter by author? 🤔

thread (see my responses below), would appreciate insights on segmented pagination. how did it work on twitter? how does it work on mastodon? which clients do it particularly well? i'm not asking about stuff like "cross-device sync", this is way out there for now; just want to figure out basics

#DanskyApp ?

dan@danabra.mov

ok i prototyped this thing. even in algo feeds (like Discover), the previous stuff you've seen gets pushed down after "pull to refresh" instead of being gone completely and for chronological feeds there's now a "Load More" that fills in the gap between freshest stuff and last stuff you've seen
