Spirit island is basically my favorite game even though I own over 200 board games. I got to play it with a friend today. We played twice and won one of those two times.

I played kanban three players at LUKI brewery this Sunday. It's good, but I like every board game by Vital Lacerda. We also played cosmic encounters, but I feel like it needs more than three.

I like everdell silverfrost a lot more than everdell because with the frost mechanic, I really feel like I'm having to think hard about my moves to get anything done. But the little cardboard baskets that go on the mountain as worker spaces are so bad. I may get the wooden mountain.

I've been working on my drawing and the loomis method faces lately. I've been drawing Tim Cain while doing this. All the zooming in and studying the guys face feels a bit person. Like... I'm sorry sir, I'm not a creep. I've just been measuring your nose position in zoom again and again.

This time they picked to be at Montreal. So I'm Still working on it. It's hard to get the roads and building looking good for detail. I will rename districts for player picks but at least I like the layers I have in so far.

I played Spirit Island yesterday. It's still one of my favorite board games ever. Me and my wife already played it an obscene amount of times but it's good to have people over to play the game with us. If anyone who sees this ever gets the chance to play spirit island do it. One of the best games.

Someone I know from a previous job asked me to play in their Chronicles of darkness game the other night. It was fun. Everyone knows Chronicles of darkness was good. It's just a multipart Halloween adventure. The whole world of darkness is a good system choice for short Halloween adventures.

The players were shy which reminds me of a thing I know as a player and GM. The GM would open a scene and openly asking what all characters are doing. It led to a bit of silence so when I jumped in I try to work with a link to another character. If two people talk it gets a ball rolling.

I guess that's why so many pbta systems use a spotlight system and ask you to talk to a specific character rather then openly talk to the group. No one wants to push a player that is having a rough day and needs a moment, but it's awkward when the GM talking to a group and getting crickets.

If anyone wants to play in an online Otherscpae campaign, I'm thechiatroll on discord. Sundays 4pm MT 2 weeks on 1 week off. Session 0 will involve mega city generation. Lgbtq+ friendly only. Audio will be on Discord sheet organization and and dice will be my foundry server. #TTRPG #Otherscape

My Otherscape game didn't happen. I did a session 0 two weeks ago and other then my wife everyone was a new player that I found online. My normal friends drifted schedules since I ran a game. None of the others showed up. It was in my foundry server and discord and we waited half an hour. #TTRPG

I recorded and listened to the session 0. it isn't going anywhere it's so I can critique and practice working on myself. So I felt pretty prepared. Friday I'll start looking for new players again. I'll wait until Friday and have the game go on the 26th of this month. I'm thinking 2 weeks on 1 off.

Nothing to do with failure, but to analyze where things went wrong getup and try again. The player who showed up over half an hour late is still invited to the restart because at least he was invested in the two weeks. The others never finished their loadouts and two never named their character.

Asking around the session 0 went well, but with two weeks in between people just don't remember well. One player showed up over half an hour late because he was stuck in traffic. I'll restart with new people. Still online. A lot of my friends I'd like in the game don't live close.

I used the two weeks to carefully make a map based on what we discussed for the city in session zero and tailor the mission to everyone. I put a bunch of work into the whole thing so it's kind of a feel bad to just hangout with your partner in an empty discord for half an hour with your prep.

I had regular players, but we hadn't run or played a game for a while after the election focusing on trying to move and then buying a home. We didn't trust time or our schedules. So now that were back to it after a year a lot of people have new jobs and schedules. That's being an adult, I guess.

So we finished playing in a six part mini campaign of Mythic Bastionland campaign yesterday. I played the Mock Knight and then the Hooded Knight. I can only speak from the players perspective. It was nice to explore around on a hex crawl and find things. The myths give a lot of good prompts. #TTRPG

Overall I like the system. We never really felt and agreement in what Stimulant and sacrament should be for resting, but I know things of many interruption are a big part of a lot of OSR games. We never used the bonus attack die a single time. I was always hoping for it. We never got a warband

We are having guests we don't know extremely well over to play xia: legends of a drift system with expansions. I always use a whole second table for ships and upgrades. Xia is always a good game to play.

Because my partner is southern and its guests that we aren't extremely familiar with, she demands food, so we bought some drinks and have been preparing a whole vegan charcuterie board and some cookies.

My session zero for otherscape went well. We used the tables from the book to build the city, and there is a lot of mythoi happening in this city. The players picked new Appalachia for the name of a mega city in the what was state of New York post global warming. Everyone has two districts to name.

Then we went over character concepts everyone wants to build before moving onto theme cards the players and started round Robin building their theme cards so everyone knows everyone else's plans, and I went into how to also make things like loadout tags.

I feel like we are in a great spot thematically for session 1 now. I just need to build out a quick city map and finish my rough early missions so that they make sense with the crew and city that we have.

Then we went over rules, house rules, and things people want or don't want in the game. They are choosing to be a crew type of independent mercenary all around fixers. Every player made a single NPC that the crew knows, with two story tags that they bring to scenes.

The expansions for earthborne rangers came in the mail today from team covenant. I'm pretty exited to be adding these to my game. I don't be able to play today though becuase I play in a mythic bastion campaign layer today. Stewards of the valley, moments on the path and legacy of the ancestors.
